4、ny exposed surface, or between any accessible part and earth ground, or any otheraccessible part with an open circuit potential of is greater than 42.4 volts peak as measured between anyaccessible part and earth ground or any other accessible part, the leakage current at any accessible partshall not
5、 be more than the following values when tested in accordance with 37.2 - 37.7:a) 0.5 milliampere for an ungrounded (2-wire) portable, stationary, or fixed product;b) 0.5 milliampere for a grounded (3-wire) portable product; andc) 0.75 milliampere for a grounded (3-wire) stationary or fixed product.E
6、xception: When an electromagnetic radiation suppression filter is required for the product to function asintended, the leakage current shall not be more than 2.5 milliamperes, when the product complies withthe following conditions:a) The product shall be provided with grounding means in accordance w
7、ith the applicablerequirements for a cord-connected product in Grounding for Products Containing High-VoltageCircuits, Section 24;b) With the filter removed from the product, the leakage current shall not exceed the limitsspecified in 37.1 (b) and (c); as applicable, andc) The product is marked in a
8、ccordance with 83.1.7.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:This revision is to require the Leakage Current Test only for cord-connected products.Fixed equipment is permanently and solidly grounded providing a reliable path for fault current.Cord-connected equipment relies on the mating of an attachment plug and r
9、eceptacle for establishing aground connection which is subject to repeated insertion and withdrawal over the life of the equipment.Although the plug/receptacle provides a secure connection, it is by no means equivalent to the groundconnection for fixed equipment. The main difference between the conn

The leakage test is only intended to insure that the mating of an attachment plug andreceptacle provides a reliable ground connection; therefore, t
11、he test is primarily applicable tocord-connected products.The Leakage Current test in UL 2017 is also being revised to align with other very similar performancebased standards such as UL 864, UL 916 and UL 2572.
