4、e or nightstand.New Section 3.273.27 Portable Alarm or Accessory An alarm or accessory intended for transient use, such as a travel orpersonal alarm.Revised Section 69.69 Drop Test69.1 This test is to be conducted only on portable or tabletop alarms or accessories intended for transientuse, such as

5、a travel alarm, and is not to be conducted on alarms intended for stationary installation.69.2 An portable alarm or accessory shall withstand five drops from a height of 7 feet (2.1 m) onto a tiledconcrete floor without exposure of internal hazardous-voltage parts or affecting its intended operation

6、 andsensitivity. The sample is to be held so that each impact with the floor is at a different location on thealarm. Parts shall not become dislodged unless the dislodged part does not affect operation or sensitivityof the unit, the dislodged part is replaceable (such as a cover), there are no hazar

7、dous-voltage partsexposed, and the condition is visually obvious.69.3 A tabletop alarm or accessory shall be dropped from the maximum height limit specified in the usersmanual. At a minimum the unit shall be dropped from a height of 3.28 feet (1 meter).69.3 69.4 Each of two alarms is to be raised to

8、 a the applicable height of 7 feet (2.1 m) specified in 69.2and 69.3, and be permitted to drop five times onto a concrete floor covered with a 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) thickuncushioned vinyl tile. Following the drops, the unit is to be examined for damage and tested forsensitivity. Sensitivity measurements

9、 recorded after the drop test shall comply with 39.1.1.UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULRATIONALE FOR DECISION:The intent of this CRD is to align the drop test performance requirements for carbon monoxide alarms withcurrent test

10、 practices based on the intended application of the product. The current drop distance of 7 feetwas established with the assumption that portable alarms would be mounted to the tops of doors, whichare typically no more than 7 feet high. If the alarm is not intended to be located on a door, but inste

11、ad ona nightstand, desk or the like, the 7 foot height was not considered to be consistent with the intendedapplication of the alarm and a 1 meter (3.28 feet) drop height was established as normative certificationpractice.Copyright 2014 Underwriters Laboratories Inc.UL, in performing its functions i
