14、P3 charging stations, wireless routers,etc., orb) Are supplied by a separable USB, LPS or Class II Power Supply that also include a primary(non-rechargeable) battery (see Appendix B) examples being portable radios, iPod docks,clock radios, etc., orc) Are supplied by a separable USB, LPS or Class 2 P

15、ower Source that also include asecondary (rechargeable) battery with a capacity no larger than 7000 mAh examples beingcell phones, tablet computers, etc.Examples of suitable power sources related to itemsacinclude: Listed Class 2 Transformer Listed Class 2 Power Supply Other Listed Equipment marked

20、ble physiological effects of radio frequency (RF)electromagnetic fields associated with this equipment have not been investigated.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this Specification shall comply withthe requirements for that component.2.2 A component is

21、 not required to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this Specification; orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this Specification.2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with it

27、tection from electric shock relies upon supply fromSELV circuits and in which voltages above SELV limits are not generated.CONSTRUCTION6 General6.1 Class III products under this program comply with the requirements the Standard for InformationTechnology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements,

28、 UL 60950-1, Second Edition.7 Thermoplastic Parts7.1 Enclosure flame rated minimum HB at the thickness used.7.2 Internal parts minimum V-2 at thickness used or electronic components, such as integrated circuitpackages, optocoupler packages, capacitors and other small parts that are mounted on minimu

29、m V-1 atthickness used.8 Batteries8.1 If inserting the batteries in the wrong orientation is possible a fire or overheating hazard shall notresult as validated by the Heating test of 12.3 with the battery inserted improperly8.2 Primary Batteries there shall be multiple/redundant components in series

30、 with the battery to preventany charging conditions8.3 Secondary Batteries Shall be Listed (BBFS) and comply with the Standard for Household andCommercial Batteries, UL 2054, having LPS outputs and are suitable for the intended use.8.4 Secondary batteries shall comply with the forced charge rapid di

31、scharge requirements in theStandard for Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1,Second Edition, sub-clause 4.3.8. This can be achieved by evaluation of the maximum output voltage andcurrents from the power source under normal and single fault conditions and c

33、ERMISSION FROM UL9 Power Supply9.1 Power Supply is either Listed ITE (QQGQ) having LPS outputs or Listed Class II and complies with9.2 and 9.3.9.2 The rated output current of the power supply is not to be exceeded when the product is configuredand operating to consume maximum power with the battery

34、charging under maximum charging conditions.9.3 The Power Supply Report specifies the maximum operating ambient of the Power Supply at least thesame or higher than the maximum operating ambient of the product.10 I/O Connectors10.1 I/O connectors shall not exceed LPS limits.PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS11 Gene

35、ral11.1 In addition to the above construction requirements, the following program elements must be in placefor the product to be covered by this program.12 Production Line Tests12.1 Type Tests are typically not anticipated on these types of products. The following production linetests are to be cond

36、ucted on representative samples of each new production run of Class III Productsunder this program. The related test data (or data supplied by the manufacturer) is to be recorded in theConstruction Validation Form (Appendix A).12.2 INPUT (UL 60950-1, Second Edition, sub-clause 1.6) The input current

37、 is to be measured on onesample of each new construction to verify the actual input current is equal to or less than the markedoutput rating of the power supply at the power supply marked output voltage when the unit is configuredand operating to consume maximum power from the source with the batter

38、y charging at maximumcharging current12.3 HEATING (UL 60950-1, Second Edition, sub-clause 4.5) one sample of each new constructionincorporating a battery shall be operated from discharge of the battery to full charge of the battery(maximum charging conditions) and while operating at maximum input cu

40、URTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL12.4 PHYSICAL (UL 60950-1, Second Edition, sub-clause 4.2) Two samples of each new constructionincorporating a UL 2054 recognized battery, shall be subjected to steady force, drop, and/or impact testsin accordance with the compliance crite

41、ria of sub-clause 4.2.1 (of UL 60950-1, Second Edition); duringand after the tests, the compliance criteria of sub-clause 4.3.8 (of UL 60950-1, Second Edition) is to beapplied to the battery pack.Exception: Products that employ a UL 2054 Listed battery pack(s) or a UL 2054 recognized batterypack(s)

42、constructed of a complete hard/rigid mechanical enclosure shall be checked by evaluating overallconstruction and review of data provided by the manufacturer.12.5 PRODUCTION TEST DATA Discrete testing as indicated above may be replaced by data obtainedby the manufacturer during the design and develop

43、ment of the product.13 Manufacturers Data13.1 ACOUSTIC (UL 60950-1, Second Edition, Annex NAD) Where the product is provided with sometype of acoustic output at communication receivers and similar devices used for voice telecommunicationregardless of transmission medium, test data supplied by the ma

44、nufacturer is to be available for eachdevice.13.2 LPS VALIDATION (UL 60950-1, Second Edition, sub-clauses 3.5.4 and 5.3 and NWGQ Guide Card) Where the combination of battery and power source is greater than LPS, the following LPSdetermination is conducted for each new construction incorporating a ba

45、ttery as follows:a) By review of the schematic that the two power sources do not combine or limitingimpedances or fuses limit the combined output in accordance with the LPS requirementsdefined in sub-clause 2.5 (of UL 60950-1, Second Edition), this testing need not be conducted,orb) Power available

46、at output connectors may be measured to verify all are at LPS levels, andcomponent faults conducted to verify compliance with method 2 of sub-clause 4.7.1 (of UL60950-1, Second Edition).14 Process14.1 The manufacturer shall demonstrate ability to comply with the manufacturing process requirementsas

47、specified in Appendix A. This determination is made by CAS at each manufacturing location prior toproduction of products under this program.14.2 The manufacturer shall complete a related training program for this program as administered byULU.14.3 The manufacturer shall track each model type produce

48、d for which the UL Mark is used, utilizing theConstruction Validation Form specified in Appendix A. This Form Report will be maintained by theManufacturer for each product for a minimum of 7 years and the manufacturer shall immediately transmita copy of the Form Report to UL for each new product int
