This marking shallbe permanent in letters not less than 2.4 mm (3/32 inch) high

5、MILY DWELLINGS ONLY or “NOT FORUSE IN ENVIRONMENTAL AIR-HANDLING SPACES.” This marking shall be permanent in letters notless than 2.4 mm (3/32 inch) high, shall be located such that it is visible during installation and inspectionof wire connections, shall be located near the supply connections, and

6、 shall be in a contrasting color fromthe material to which it is applied.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:The markings required by UL 507 for wall and ceiling insert fans, employing polymeric housing, wereupdated in 2003 to align with the requirements for recessed luminaires in UL 1598, the Standard forLumina

7、ires. These marking requirements are intended to address installations that are unique tocommercial/industrial applications, including fire rated constructions and air-handling spaces. Whenemploying a polymeric housing, there are concerns that installation in fire-rated constructions will reduceor n

8、egate the burn rate. Whereas, contributions to spread of fire and smoke generation are concerns ifthese products were to be installed in air handling spaces. When originally proposed the air handlingspace concerns were considered to be addressed by the one and two family dwelling limitation. However

9、simply marking the product as “NOT FOR USE IN ENVIRONMENTAL AIR HANDLING SPACES” is asuitable option to address the underlying concern.
