、SMALL WIND TURBINE SYSTEMS - UL 6142 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULSMALL WIND TURBINE SYSTEMSINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover small wind turbine systems (WT) and electrical subassemblies. Withrespect to this

、standard, small WT are considered to be wind turbines where a user or service personcannot or is not intended to enter the turbine to operate it or perform maintenance. These units areintended for use in stand-alone (not grid-connected) or utility interactive applications. Utility-interactive,grid-t

、ied WT are operated in parallel with an electric power system (EPS) to supply power to commonloads.1.2 The WT power, control and protection systems are evaluated only to the extent that they functionwithin the manufacturers specified limits and response times. These control and protection functions

、areevaluated with respect to risk of electric shock and fire. It is intended that the electrical subassemblies thataddress power transfer control and protection functions evaluated per this document are to be coordinatedwith the mechanical and structural limitations specified in AWEA 9.1, Small Wind

、 Turbine Performanceand Safety Standard, the IEC 61400 series documents, or Germanischer Lloyd: Guideline for theCertification of Wind Turbines documents.1.3 These requirements do not cover:a) WT generating systems intended for off-shore installation.b) WT generating systems intended for hazardous l

See Appendix A for

、 a list of standards covering components usedin the products covered by this standard. See also Section 4, Special Components and Subassemblies ofWT.2.1.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of

、 the component in theproduct covered by this standard, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard.2.1.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended conditions ofuse.2.1.4 Specific components are incomplete in construction features or restricted in p
