Commonly used in a safety circuit to de-energize electrical components and/orstop moving parts that become e

6、mp disposal systems, and supplement, orin some cases modify the general requirements in Section279ofthis Standard.(NEW SECTION)85 Construction85.1 Power supply connections85.1.1 Power supply connections for a stationary product intended solely for permanent connection to thepower supply and for a fi
7、xed product shall comply with Section 12.3.85.1.2 Power supply connections for a stationary product intended to be cord-connected shall comply withSection 12.2, including 12.2.2.6. For a commercial lamp disposal system connected to the electricalsupply by a flexible cord, the wiring compartment shal
8、l be constructed and the cord attached such thatthe cord can be easily removed to allow the system to be connected to a permanent wiring system inaccordance with 12.3. 9、 UL85.2.1 An interlock shall be provided if required by Section 39. If provided, an interlock shall comply withSection 39.85.2.2 Additionally, an interlock shall comply with the following:85.2.2.1 The actuator of an interlock switch shall be located or protected so that it cannot be easilydefeated.8
10、5.2.2.2 An interlock is considered to comply with the requirement in 85.2.2.1 if it cannot be defeated byuse of the probe illustrated in Figure 11.1 or if another acceptable arrangement of the interlock or systemof interlocks is provided.85.2.2.3 An interlock shall not be capable of being defeated b
11、y material or lamp fragment accumulationthat could occur in normal use.85.2.2.4 Operation of an interlock in normal use shall not inconvenience the operator so as to encouragedeliberate defeat of the interlock.85.2.2.5 Unless known to be acceptable for 100,000 cycles of operation, an interlock shall
12、 withstand100,000 cycles of operation controlling a load no less severe than it controls in the appliance, and shallfunction normally upon completion of the test.85.2.2.6 If an automatically reset protective device is employed in an appliance, automatic restarting ofthe motor shall not result in a r
13、isk of injury.85.2.2.7 The requirement in 85.2.2.6 necessitates the use of an interlock if moving parts or the like maycause a risk of injury to persons upon automatic restarting of the motor.85.4 Acoustical And Thermal Insulation85.4.1 Combustible or electrically conductive acoustical and heat-insu
14、lating material shall not be locatedso as to make contact with an uninsulated live part.85.4.2 Mineral-wool thermal insulation shall not contact an uninsulated live part if it contains conductiveimpurities such as slag that may introduce a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.(NEW SECT
15、ION)86 Performance86.1 Sections 42 66 of this Standard apply. Additionally, 86.2 86.5 apply.86.2 Maximum normal load, Section 46.2, is considered to be operating continuously feeding bulbs of thetype and size indicated, as quickly as possible as permitted by the machine. If the machine will permitmo
16、re than one bulb to be inserted at a time, a minimum of five bulbs shall be inserted at one time, unlessthe instructions indicate more, or the machine otherwise limits the number of bulbs to a lower amount.During testing, actual lamp bulbs may be substituted by equivalent alternatives (i.e. decorati
17、ve holidayglobes) if the load can be accurately represented.86.3 For abnormal operation test in Section 54, consideration shall be given to objects other than lamps(i.e. brick, paper, general trash, liquid containers) being inserted into the machine.86.4 Continuity Test Of Grounding CircuitSTANDARD

19、.1 ohm.86.4.2 With reference to 86.4.1, the resistance may be determined by any convenient method. However,if unacceptable results are obtained, an alternating current of at least 20 A from a source of supply of notmore than 12 V is to be passed from the point of connection of the equipment-groundin
20、g means to themetal part in the grounding circuit, and the resulting drop in potential is to be measured between thesetwo points. The resistance in ohms is to be determined by dividing the drop in potential in volts by thecurrent in amperes passing between the two points. The grounding conductor of
21、a power-supply cord isnot to be included in this measurement.86.5 Flexing of Wiring86.5.1 A lamp disposal system in which intended operation of movable parts mechanically affects wiringor other insulated live parts, shall operate successfully in the intended manner for the number of cyclesspecified
22、in 86.5.2 while connected to the intended supply circuit. There shall be no electrical ormechanical breakdown of the appliance and, after the test, the appliance shall comply with therequirements for dielectric voltage-withstand in 40.1.Exception: If an interlock switch de-energizes the wiring or un
23、insulated live parts when flexed, the testmay be conducted without energizing the sample.86.5.2 The number of cycles of flexing is to be:a) Six thousand if flexing occurs only during regular prescribed servicing such as lubrication,resetting of protectors, or the like. Or,b) Thirty thousand if flexi
24、ng occurs only during a machine operation or cycle that occursmanually on a periodic basis, but less than every time a bulb is inserted, such as unloading adebris container, or changing a filter. Or,c) Number of cycles to represent 20 years of extrapolated life of the product, if the cycle occursaut
25、omatically and the cycling rate is limited by the equipment to a rate less than every use ofthe product, such as when crushing or heating after a specified number of uses. The number ofcycles likely to occur in one day, multiplied by 7300, is to be used to determine the cycles fortesting. For exampl
26、e, if the component subject to flexing cycles 2 times per day during normaluse: 2 cycles/day x 7300 days/20 yrs = 14,600 cycles for testing, to represent 20 yrs of life. Or,d) One hundred thousand if flexing occurs during loading of the machine, or during a machineoperation or cycle that occurs duri
27、ng or after each cycle.86.5.3 In a test to determine whether an appliance complies with the requirement in 86.5.1, anymechanical arrangement may be employed to operate the movable member at a rate of approximately 12cycles per minute. Other cycle rate may be used if agreeable to all concerned. The m
28、ovable member isto be operated so that it will reach the actual limits of travel in both directions during each cycle.(NEW SECTION)87 Markings87.1 Section 70 shall apply. 30、er of bulbs that are to be inserted.These markings shall be clearly and legibly marked on the product and visible to a user when in normaloperation.87.3 A commercial lamp disposal system requiring periodic maintenance by someone other than a servicetechnician, for example to empty a trash bin, or re
31、place a filter, shall be marked with instructions toproperly carry out the intended function. These markings shall be clearly and legibly marked on theproduct during the required maintenance function. The marking may be on the inside of a service panelif clearly visible once the panel is open.87.5 A
32、ll manual controls and switches, if intended for use by a user, shall be permanently and clearlymarked with their function. The letters shall not be less than 3/32 in (2.4 mm) high and shall contrast withtheir background.(NEW SECTION)88 Instructions88.1 Sections 71-75 shall apply. Additionally, 88.2
33、 88.4 shall apply.88.2 A cord-connected commercial lamp disposal system shall comply with 73.10.88.3 A lamp disposal system shall be provided with a set of instructions for installation, for properoperation by the user, for periodic maintenance, and for any service required. The instructions shallin
34、clude, for example, information regarding proper emptying of accumulated debris, changing filters, andany precautions to take regarding handling of broken bulbs.88.4 The instructions shall repeat and if needed, elaborate on, the markings provided on the product,including markings required in 87.2.RA
35、TIONALE FOR DECISION:The disposal of lamps (light bulbs) when they have reached end-of life is an increasing challenge,balancing convenience, safety, and environmental concerns simultaneously. Complicating this challengeis the increasing availability of newer energy efficient bulbs including compact
36、 fluorescent lamps (CFL)and LED bulbs, as well as traditional tube-type fluorescent bulbs. Some of these bulbs contain smallamounts of mercury, used commonly in industry to achieve proper illumination characteristics. Themethods, options, and regulations for disposal of these devices present unique
37、challenges.Products have been developed and are on the market which provide a solution, and assist with thedisposal of these lamps.These products are motor operated, and have features similar to waste disposers and trash compactors,but do not compact, bale, or inject waste into a sewer system. Rathe
