、ring laid on the material specied in 5.1 (a) or 5.1 (b) shall be less than 1,000,000 ohms as measured between two electrodes placed 3 feet (0.914 m) apart at any point on the surface of the panel. See 6.7. 6.2 The electrical resistance of a sample consisting of a 4- by 4-foot (1.22- by 1.22-m) squar
、e panel laid on an insulating surface shall be more than 25,000 ohms as measured between a ground connection and an electrode placed at any point on the surface of the panel, and also as measured between two electrodes placed 3 feet (0.914 m) apart at any point on the surface of the panel. See 6.7.
、This minimum resistance is specied as a protection against electric shock. 6.3 The test panel is to be clean, dry, and without any coating of wax or other material that affects the conductivity of the ooring. 6.4 Each electrode is to weigh 5 pounds (2.27 kg) and is to have a dry, at, circular contac
、t area 2-1/2 inches (63.5 mm) in diameter. The surface of the contact area is to be aluminum foil or tin foil 0.0005 to 0.001 inch (0.013 to 0.025 mm) thick, backed by a layer of rubber 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) thick. The rubber is to have a hardness reading of 40 to 60 using a Shore Type A durometer or th
、e equivalent in accordance with the Standard Test for Method for Rubber Property Durometer Hardness, ASTM D2240-91. 6.5 Resistance is to be measured with a calibrated ohmmeter having an effective internal resistance of 100,000 ohms 10 percent. The test circuit is to have a nominal open-circuit poten
、tial of 500 volts, direct current, and a short-circuit current of 5 milliamperes. 6.6 Measurements are to be made as specied in 6.1 and 6.2 at ve or more locations on each 4- by 4-foot (1.22- by 1.22-m) square panel. The resistance measured by each method is to be averaged separately. 6.7 For compli
、ance with the requirements in 6.1, the average resistance shall be within the limits specied. For compliance with the requirements in 6.2, no location shall have a resistance of less than 10,000 ohms, and the average resistance, for ve or more locations, shall be greater than 25,000 ohms. When the r
、esistance to ground is measured, two measurements are to be made at each location with the test leads interchanged at the instrument between measurements. The average of the two readings is to be taken as the resistance to ground at that location. If the resistance changes with time during a measure
、ment, the value observed after the voltage has been applied for 5 seconds is determined to be the measured value. 6.8 The resistance of the panels is to be measured twice a week for 10 or more weeks, or until a stable resistance is attained. If the resistance change is such that the resistance limit
、s specied in 6.1 and 6.2 are exceeded, the measurements are to be continued until stable conditions within the limits are attained or until the resistance limits are exceeded. The panels are to be covered between measurements to prevent accumulation of dust. AUGUST 12, 2011 ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE F
