、COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL INTRODUCTION 1 Scope 1.1 These requirements cover indicator posts, including wall and underground types, for use in operating valves of the inside-screw pattern and for indicating the position of
、the gates in such valves. Indicator posts are primarily intended for use with valves controlling water supplies to sprinkler, deluge, water spray, foam, and standpipe systems used in private re service where connections enter buildings. 1.2 Requirements for the installation and use of the indicator
、posts covered by this standard are included in the following Standards of the National Fire Protection Association: a) NFPA 11, Low Expansion Foam and Combined Agent Systems; b) NFPA 13, Installation of Sprinkler Systems; c) NFPA 14, Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems; and d) NFPA 24, Instal
、lation of Private Fire Service Mains. 2 Components 2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this standard shall comply with the requirements for that component. 2.2 A component is not required to comply with a specic requirement that: a) Involves a feature or characteristi
、c not required in the application of the component in the product covered by this standard, or b) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard. 2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended conditions of use. 2.4 Specic components are incomplete in const
、ruction features or restricted in performance capabilities. Such components are intended for use only under limited conditions, such as certain temperatures not exceeding specied limits, and shall be used only under those specic conditions.
