3、agraph Reference: 65A, 65B, 65C NewSubject: Manufacturer and Production Line TestsDECISION:65A Grounding-Continuity Test65A.1 Each cord-connected furnishing shall be tested, as a routine production-line test, to determine thatgrounding continuity exists between the grounding pin of the attachment pl

4、ug and the electrical enclosureor other dead metal parts. When the electrical enclosure is complete, the electrical enclosure is notrequired to be attached to a furnishing.65A.2 Any appropriate indicating device an ohmmeter, battery- and buzzer-combination, or similarequipment is able to be used to

5、determine compliance with 65A.1.65B Polarity65B.1 Each furnishing shall be checked as a routine production-line test to verify that there is electricalcontinuity between the grounded supply-circuit conductor of the attachment plug wide blade of a 2-wiretype and the part of the product that is intend

6、ed to be connected to the grounded supply-circuitconductor of the attachment plug (for example, screw shell of an incandescent lampholder). The continuityshall be determined either visually or through the use of an electrical test. Equivalently, continuity is ableto be verified between the ungrounde

7、d supply-circuit conductor of the attachment plug and the part of theproduct that is intended to be connected to the ungrounded conductor (for example, the center contact ofan incandescent lampholder).65C Dielectric Voltage-Withstand Test65C.1 Each furnishing shall withstand without electrical break

8、down, as a routine production-line test, theapplication of a 40 70 hertz potential as described in Table 65C.1 between:a) The supply wiring and dead metal parts that become energized;b) Supply wiring of opposite polarity when separate grounded supply conductors are employed;andc) The ungrounded supp

It is not intended that the productbe unwired, modified, or disassembled for the test.Exception: A furnishing employing solid-state components (such as load connected, across-the-linecomponents or transient voltage surge suppressors) that are able to su

12、stain damage from the dielectricpotential are able to be tested before the components are electrically connected or a DC voltage may beused.65C.3 The test equipment is to include a transformer having a sinusoidal output, a means of indicatingthe test potential, an audible or visual indicator of elec

13、trical breakdown, and either a manually reset deviceto restore the equipment after electrical breakdown or an automatic feature to reject any product that doesnot meet the requirement.65C.4 When the output of the test-equipment transformer is less than 500 volt-amperes, the equipment isto include th

14、e voltmeter in the output circuit to directly indicate the test potential.65C.5 When the output of the test-equipment transformer is 500 volt-amperes or more, the test potentialis able to be indicated by a voltmeter in the primary circuit or in a tertiary-winding circuit, a selector switchmarked to

15、indicate the test potential, or in the case of equipment having a single test-potential output, amarking shall be visible while the equipment is in use to indicate the test potential. When marking is usedwithout an indicating voltmeter, the equipment shall include a positive means, such as an indica

16、tor lamp,to indicate that the manually reset switch has been reset following a dielectric breakdown.65C.6 Test equipment other than that specified in 65B.3 65B.5 is able to be used when it is determinedto accomplish the intended factory control.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:These tests are needed to confir

17、m the product was properly wired and there was no damage during themanufacturing process.
