4、sidered indirect contact with a live part when it is touching the live part or is within 1/32 inch (0.8 mm) of the livepart. Indirect contact is when a non-metallic part is supporting a material that is in direct contact with thelive parts.3 Components3.7 Video or audio equipment shall comply with t

7、t, current-carrying part, or devicewith an exposed live part shall be contained in an enclosure constructed of metal, glass, ceramic,porcelain, or polymeric material. Such parts shall be contained in the enclosure during normalmaintenance and use.Exception No. 1: A current-carrying part of a wiring

8、device (such as the screw shell and center contact ofa lampholder, the lampholder contacts, starter holder contacts, or similar components of a fluorescentluminaire) that are normally fitted with a functional component (a lamp, a starter, or similar component)during use of the furnishing is not requ

11、3.10.4 Electrical enclosures of polymeric material10.4.1 A polymeric material enclosure of electrical parts shall comply with the requirements in theStandard for Polymeric Materials Use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations, UL 746C, as applicable topolymeric enclosures. For Damp Locations, the Resist

12、ance to Impact Test of the Standard for PolymericMaterials - Use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations, UL 746C, preconditioning shall be at a temperatureof 0 2.0C (32 3.6F). For wet locations, the UV Light Exposure and Cold Impact Test of the Standardfor Polymeric Materials - Use in Electrical Equipm

13、ent Evaluations, UL 746C, preconditioning shall be at atemperature of minus 35.0 2.0C (minus 31.0 3.6F).13 Resistance to Moisture and Liquid Damage17 Internal Wiring17.1 Conductors17.1.4 Internal wiring shall consist of wires of a type or types that are determined to meet the requirementsfor the int

14、ended use with respect to flexibility, mechanical abuse, temperature, ampacity, and voltage.Conductors of any cross-sectional-area are permitted when the conductors are in Class 2 or LPS circuits.17.1.12 Class 2 or LPS wiring not contained within a metal or polymeric enclosure that is intended to be

15、routed within a furnishing shall be of a type suitable for the application (e.g. CL2, CL2P, CL3, CL3P,CL3R, CM, CMP, CMR, PLTC, or other jacketed type cord with a minimum 0.013 inch (0.33 mm) jacketthickness).33 Electrical Insulation in Direct and Indirect Contact with Live Parts33.1 Electrical insu

16、lation in direct or indirect contact with uninsulated live parts other than magnet wirecoating shall be a material investigated and found acceptable in accordance with the electrical insulationrequirements of the Standard for Polymeric Materials - Use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations, UL746C.The

17、material shall withstand the most severe conditions likely to be met in service.Exception: Small parts and adhesives need not be investigated if they are:a) Not relied upon to maintain the proper functioning of the device with regard to the likelihoodof electric shock, fire, and injury to persons; a

18、nd/orb) Not relied upon to maintain separation between uninsulated live parts of opposite polarity,live parts, and accessible metal parts and/or uninsulated live parts and earth ground.33.2 After the conditioning specified in 34.1, conditioning of polymeric components, and upon cooling toroom temper

19、ature, there shall there be no evidenc of softening, shrinkage, warpage, or other distortion ofparts that results in any of the following:a) Reduction of spacings between uninsulated live parts of opposite polarity, uninsulated liveparts and accessible dead or grounded metal, and uninsulated live pa

34、s that prohibit such interconnection.SA11 Circuit Power Limit Measurement TestSA11.1 A determination shall be made as to which points in the circuit are capable of delivering a powergreater than 15 watts for more than 5 seconds into an external variable resistor connected singly betweeneach point in

35、 the circuit and its supply return (circuit common). See SA11.2.SA11.2 To determine the points capable of delivering a power of more than 15 watts, the external resistoris to be set for maximum resistance before being connected to the circuit under investigation. The externalresistor is to be adjust

36、ed until the maximum wattage is consumed as indicated by a peak reading of thewattmeter. A reading of greater than 15 watts indicates that the points are capable of delivering greaterthan 15 watts. The external resistor is to then be moved, point by point, from the point farthest from theload to oth

37、er points toward the load side of the circuit until a point is reached where the maximum powerconsumed by the external resistor (as indicated by a peak reading of the wattmeter) is not more than 15watts. During the test, the appliance is to be connected to a source of supply and operated as specifie

38、din the Temperature Test, Section 52.Exception: When the portion of the appliance in question is tested separately from the main body of theappliance, the source of supply and loading are to be equivalent to those supplied to the circuit within theappliance when the appliance is operated as specifie

39、d in the Temperature Test.SA11.3 With reference to SA11.1, when a thermal or overcurrent protective device operates during thetest, a shorting switch is to be connected across the protective device in the closed position. The externalresistor is to be adjusted for maximum resistance before being con

40、nected in the circuit. When the protective device opens the circuit in 5 seconds orless while the resistor is dissipating 15 watts, the first circuit point not capable of delivering more than 15watts has bee
