15、ION FROM UL ABSTRACT This Recommended Practice provides the details required in order to perform different exing tests in order to obtain repeatable results. INTRODUCTION 1 Scope 1.1 This Recommended Practice provides test procedures for evaluating the capability of a cable to withstand different ex

16、ing motions. One or more of these tests may be used depending on the specic application. 2 General 2.1 Units of measure 2.1.1 The unit of measure is dened as SI. If a value for measurement is followed by a value in other units in parentheses, the second value represents a direct conversion or an alt

17、ernative value. 2.2 Normative references Standard for Appliance Wiring Material, UL 758 Standard for Wire and Cable Test Methods, UL 2556 2.3 Safety 2.3.1 General 2.3.1.1 It is not the intent of this recommended practice to address all of the safety issues associated with its use. It is the responsi

18、bility of the user of the recommended practice to train personnel, establish proper health and safety procedures and be aware of, and comply with, local, state/provincial, and national regulatory restrictions that apply. It is important that the equipment be designed to comply with good engineering practices, with safety being an integral part of the design. To avoid electric shock i

20、n such cases, necessary precautions shall be taken and test equipment manufacturers recommendations shall be followed. 2.3.3 Mechanical hazards 2.3.3.1 Some tests utilizing mechanical equipment can expose the operator to mechanical hazards. Care shall be exercised to protect eyes, ngers, hands, and

21、other body parts from injury. 2.4 Denitions 2.4.1 NORMAL VISION vision without any aid other than the examiners normal corrective lenses, if any. 2.4.2 ROOM TEMPERATURE 25 10 C (77 18 F). 2.5 Test temperature 2.5.1 Tests should be conducted at ROOM TEMPERATURE. 2.6 Tolerances 2.6.1 If tolerances are

24、 c) product description; d) name of test conducted; and e) test result. 3 Signicance And Use 3.1 Cables subject to repeated exing applications are subject to numerous different stresses. Testing cables in a repeatable way can provide data for comparing one cable to another. Without repeatable method

25、ology, determining the capabilities of one cable over another is difficult. 3.2 The tests provided are those traditionally used to evaluate a cable for repeated exing applications. The four main tests for cables used in repeated exing applications include C-Track, Tick-tock, torsion and serpentine e

26、x. Addition tests that combine two of the motions into one test may be used in cases where the exing in the actual application takes on a more complex motion. Each of these tests has specic parameters that should be controlled in order to have repeatable results. 3.3 The results found in cables subj

27、ect to these tests do not necessarily represent the number of cycles a cable may withstand in an actual application. 3.4 The test procedures specify the mechanical and electrical criteria necessary for repeatable and reliable means of determination of the number of cycles a cable could withstand. 3.

28、5 The acceptance criteria or pass/fail criteria can vary. Some or all of the layers of the cable may be evaluated for abrasion or wear. The continuity of the conductors and shields may be dened, or conductor be examined and the number of broken strands be recorded. A requirement that the DC resistan

29、ce of the conductor may not change by a certain percentage after the cycling has been completed could be an additional method for determining acceptance. 30、 4 Tick-Tock Test This test method establishes a method for evaluating the resistance of cable to stress caused by bending. 4.1 Test parameters 4.1.1 The following test parameters should be specied. a) bending angle, increments of 45 maximum 180; b) weight, increments of 100 g; c) speed, cycles per

31、minute; d) Mandrel diameter; e) distance from the center of the mandrel to the grip holding the cable and from the center of the mandrel to the weight suspended from the sample; and f) distance between mandrel and cable. 4.2 Apparatus 4.2.1 A typical apparatus consists of the following: a) a power-d

32、riven device provided with a mechanism to provide the specied number of cycles at a constant rate bending the specimen using a bending cycle consisting of bending the specimen to the specied position from the vertical, back through the specied angle in the opposite direction and then back to the ver

33、tical (See Figure 4.1); b) a mandrel of the specied radius, R; c) a specied weight, W; and d) a counting device to record the number of cycles. This is generated text for gtxt. 34、ION FROM UL 4.3 Preparation of specimens 4.3.1 The test specimens should be taken from a sample of nished wire or cable, or from the wire or cable during manufacture without any conditioning. 4.3.2 Each specimen should be of sufficient length to be t in the apparatus. Both ends of the specimens shou

35、ld be stripped to remove the insulation and jacket. The insulation should be removed for a length of 155 mm (6.10 in) and the jacket 50 mm (2 in) from each end of each specimen. 37、 of the sample, so that the axis of the sample is perpendicular to the parallel mandrels and the surface of the sample is parallel to the mandrels. The specied weight should be attached to the bottom of the test specimen, and allowed to hang freely. 4.4.2 The sample should be exed back-and-forth abo

38、ut the opposing parallel mandrels at the specied rate over the specied angle for the specied number of cycles. One cycle should consist of the specimen moving from the original, vertical position to the specied angle, back to the original, vertical position, to the specied angle in the opposite dire

39、ction and back to the original vertical position. 4.5 Report 4.5.1 The report should include, and is not limited to, the following items: a) number of cycles completed; b) cycles rate used; c) bending angle used; d) weight used; e) mandrel diameter used; f) distance from the center of the mandrel to

40、 the grip holding the cable and from the central of the mandrel to the weight suspended from the sample; g) distance between mandrel and cable; and h) acceptance criteria. 5 Torsion test This test method establishes a method for evaluating the cable resistance of cable to stress caused by a twisting

43、men through the specied angle degrees from the starting point, and then back to be starting point. (See Figure 5.1); b) a circuit to detect conductor breakage with lamp, buzzer, bell or other indicator, and stop the torsion apparatus; and c) a counting device to record the number of cycles.
