7、es and equipment covered by these requirements are intended for use indoors and are intendedto be installed in systems covered by the National Fuel Gas Code, NFPA 54, or the National ElectricalCode, NFPA 70.1.3 These requirements do not cover devices intended to be installed on a vehicle.1.4 These r

In addition, the following definitions apply.3.2 GAS Includes natural gas and manufactured gas.3.3 GAS BOOSTER A device that will increase the gas line pressure to a specified value.3.4 HERMETICALLY SEALED A method to prevent the entrance of an external atmosphere and inwhic
15、h the seal is made by fusion, such as soldering, brazing, welding, or the fusion of glass to metal.3.5 MANUFACTURED GAS Synthetically produced mixture of methane and other gases, such ascarbon monoxide, produced by chemically treating coal.3.6 NATURAL GAS A naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixtur
16、e consisting primarily of methane,along with other hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and hydrogen sulfide.4 Pressure, Temperature and Gas Service Ratings4.1 The pressure rating of a device shall include the inlet pressure and differential pressure (or outletpressure) and shall be marked on the
17、 product. 18、NSTRUCTION5 General5.1 A gas booster shall include all of the components necessary for its intended function and installation,and shall be furnished as a single unit or assembly.5.2 For devices intended for use in a classified area, or devices rated for use in a classified area,electrical components
19、, including the motor, when incorporated into the assembly of a gas booster,including the means provided in the assembly for electrical connections, shall comply with therequirements for equipment for use in hazardous locations, Class I, Group D, Division 1 or 2, (or Zone 1or 2, respectively), as ap
20、propriate, in the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, Articles 500 and 501 (Article505 for Zone Classification), depending upon the installation in accordance with National Fuel Gas Code,NFPA 54.5.3 With reference to 5.2, such electrical components shall comply with the applicable standard for thepro
21、tection technique employed; for example explosion proof equipment shall comply with the Standard forExplosion-Proof and Dust-Ignition-Proof Electrical Equipment for Use in Hazardous (Classified) Locations,UL 1203.6 Electrical Connections6.1 Devices shall be connected by permanent wiring. No cord con
22、nection is allowed.6.2 Wiring connections shall be made within a junction box or explosion proof junction box as needed.The junction box shall be formed of metallic materials.7 Accessibility7.1 To reduce the likelihood of unintentional contact that may involve a risk of electric shock from anuninsul
23、ated live part or film-coated wire, or injury to persons from a moving part, an opening in anenclosure shall comply with either of the following:a) For an opening that has a minor dimension (see 7.5) less than 1 inch (25.4 mm), such apart or wire shall not be contacted by the probe illustrated in Fi

The probes illustrated in Figures 7.1and 7.4 shall be applied in any possible configuration; and,
34、if necessary, the configuration shall bechanged after insertion through the opening.7.4 The probes mentioned in 7.3 and 7.5 shall be used as measuring instruments to judge theaccessibility provided by an opening and not as instruments to judge the strength of a material; they shallbe applied with th
35、e minimum force necessary to determine accessibility.7.5 With reference to the requirements in 7.1 and 7.2, the minor dimension of an opening is the diameterof the largest cylindrical probe having a hemispherical tip that can be inserted through the opening.7.6 With reference to the requirements in
36、7.2:a) An indirectly accessible motor is a motor that is:1) Accessible only by opening or removing a part of the outer enclosure, such as aguard or panel, that can be opened or removed without using a tool, or2) Located at such a height or is otherwise guarded or enclosed so that it is unlikely tobe
37、 contacted.b) A directly accessible motor is a motor that:1) Can be contacted without opening or removing any part, or2) Is located so as to be accessible to contact.7.7 During the examination of a product to determine whether it complies with the requirements in 7.1 or7.2, a part of the enclosure t

40、d for Thermally Protected Motors, UL 1004-3;b) An ordinary locations use motor complying with the Standard for Rotating ElectricalMachines General Requirements, UL 1004-1 and the Standard for Inverter Duty Motors, UL1004-8, when protected by a motor controller with integral motor overload protection
41、 inaccordance with the Standard for Power Conversion Equipment, UL 508C, or the Standard forAdjustable Speed Electrical Power Drive Systems, Part 5-1: Safety Requirements Electrical,Thermal, and Energy, UL 61800-5-1;c) A Class 1, Division 2 motor complying with the Outline for Electric Motors and Ge
42、nerators forUse in Class 1, Division 2 and Class II, Division 2, Hazardous (Classified) Locations, UL 1836;ord) A Class I, Division 1 motor complying with the Standard for Electric Motors and Generatorsfor Use in Hazardous (Classified) Locations, UL 674.9 Gaskets, Seals, O-Rings9.1 Gaskets, seals, a
43、nd o-rings shall be suitable for exposure to natural gas and manufactured gas inaccordance with the Standard for Gaskets and Seals, UL 157.9.2 As an alternative to 9.1, a gasket, sealing material, or O-ring shall comply with the followingrequirements in 9.3 9.6.9.3 An infrared spectroscopy shall be
44、performed on the material as a means to identify the compound.This test shall be performed in accordance with the Standard for Polymeric Materials Short TermProperty Evaluations, UL 746A.9.4 Tensile Strength and Elongation tests shall be performed in accordance with the Standard forGaskets and Seals
45、, UL 157. The test fluid shall be IRM 903 oil and n-Hexane, and the material shall retaina minimum of 60% of its original value.9.5 Volume change tests shall be performed in accordance with theStandard for Gaskets and Seals, UL157. The test fluid shall be IRM 903 oil and n-Hexane, and the material s
46、hall show a volume change withinthe range of minus 1 to 25% of its original volume.9.6 Extraction tests shall be performed in accordance with the Standard for Gaskets and Seals, UL 157.The test fluid shall be n-Hexane, and the material shall show a weight change of less than 10% of itsoriginal value

48、to reduce the risk.10.2 When judging a product with respect to the requirement in 10.1, consideration shall be given toreasonably foreseeable misuse of the product.10.3 Whether a guard or the like is required and whether such a device is adequate shall be determinedfrom an investigation of the compl
49、ete product, its operating characteristics, and the likelihood of a risk ofinjury to persons resulting from a cause other than gross negligence. The investigation shall includeconsideration of the results of breakdown or malfunction of any component; but not more than onecomponent at a time, unless one event contributes to another. If the investigation shows that breakdownor malfunction of a particular component can result in a risk of injury to persons, that component shall beinvestigated for reliability.10.4 Specific constructions, tests, markings,
