、an elevation of 3 feet (0.9 m) above the floor in a horizontal position and adjusted to the straight stream position. The inlet pressure is to be varied from the rated minimum service pressure to 100 psig (689 kPa), in uniform increments providing at least ten test pressures, and the discharge range

、 of the nozzle recorded. 11 Leakage Test 11.1 A valve, hose, hose nozzle, coupling, or other part subject to hydrostatic pressure in use shall withstand for 1 minute, without leakage, a pressure equal to twice the rated maximum working pressure. 11.2 Samples of the part are to be filled with water a

、nd vented of air. The internal pressure than is to be increased to twice the rated maximum working pressure and maintained for 1 minute. 12 Hydrostatic Strength Test 12.1 A part subject to hydrostatic pressure in use shall withstand for 1 minute, without rupture, a pressure equal to four times the r

、ated maximum working pressure. 12.2 Samples are to be filled with water and vented of all air. The test pressure then is to be gradually increased to four times the rated working maximum pressure and maintained for 1 minute. 13 Pull Strength Test 13.1 The mean value of the force required to separate

、 a hose from its coupling, minus three standard deviations, shall be greater than or equal to 100 pounds-force (445 N). 13.2 A minimum of ten samples are to be tested. The samples are to consist of short lengths of hose with one male and one female coupling on each end. The samples are to be pulled

、on a standard tensile testing machine at a speed of 0.20 inch per minute (0.085 mm/s) until the coupling separates from the hose, at which time the separation force is to be recorded. 13.3 The unbiased standard deviation is to be used to calculate the minimum pull strength. 14 Cold Resistance Test 1

、4.1 A hose shall not crack or show other evidence of physical damage to the jacket or lining when subjected to the test described in 14.2. In addition, following the test described in 14.2, the hose shall not leak or show breakage of the thread in the jacket when the hose is allowed to thaw for 24 h

、ours at room temperature and then subjected to the Hydrostatic Strength Test, Section 12. 14.2 A 3-foot (0.9-m) long sample of the hose, with test fittings, is to be immersed in a water bath at room temperature for 24 hours. The sample then is to be removed from the bath, exposed to room atmosphere

、for 15 minutes, and placed in a cold box maintained at 32F (0C) for 24 hours. Immediately after removal from the box, the sample is to be twice bent double on itself (180 degrees); first in one direction, and then in the opposite direction. 15 Accelerated Aging Test 15.1 After-being conditioned as d

、escribed in 15.2, there shall be no cracking or other evidence of deterioration of the hose or other nonmetallic components of a cabinet, and the cabinet shall operate as intended, without leakage, when subjected to the Installation and Operation Test, Section 9. 15.2 Each of the four samples of the

、 complete cabinet, less fire extinguisher, are to be installed in an air oven and conditioned for 30, 60, 90, and 180 days, respectively, at 65C (150F). 16 Water Immersion Test 16.1 A hose shall comply with the requirements of the Hydrostatic Strength Test, Section 12, after being submersed to a dep

、th of 18 inches (460 mm) in tap water at room temperature for 72 hours. 17 Adhesion Tests 17.1 General 17.1.1 The rate of separation of a l-ll2-inch (38-mm) strip of the hose lining from the jacket shall be not greater than 1 inch (25.4 mm) per minute when tested with a weight of 12 pounds (5.4 kg)

、in accordance with 17.3.1 - 17.4.1. 17.1.2 If a rubber backing is used between the lining and the jacket, the rate of separation of a l-1/2-inch (38-mm) strip of lining from the backing and the rate of separation of a 1 -l/2-inch strip of backing from the jacket shall be not greater than 1 inch (25.
