In add

6、ition to the requirements in the Standard forThermoplastic Sprinkler Pipe and Fittings for Fire Protection Service, UL 1821, the following aresupplemental requirements that also apply to thermoplastic pipe and fittings for use in low pressure drypipe sprinkler systems.2 Units of Measurement2.1 Value

Values in parentheses are explanatory orapproximate information.3 Glossary3.1 For the purpose of this outline, the following definitions apply.3.2 LOW PRESSURE DRY SYSTEMS A thermoplastic sprinkler piping system containingcompressed air or nitrogen h

8、aving a gage pressure not greater than 15 psig (103 kPa) intended for usein dry systems.3.3 MINIMUM RATED TEMPERATURE The lowest ambient temperature and associated pressurethat the pipe and fittings are intended to be exposed during use, as specified in the manufacturersdesign and installation instr

9、uctions.PERFORMANCE4 General4.1 Pipe and fitting assemblies representing the sizes, limitations and provisions contained in theinstallation and design manual, shall be subjected to the tests described in Sections57.5 Fire Exposure Test5.1 Pipe and fitting assemblies intended for installation in low

10、pressure dry systems without protectivematerials referenced in UL 1821, Section 13.1.1, shall comply with the Fire Exposure Tests described inthe Standard for Thermoplastic Sprinkler Pipe and Fittings for Fire Protection Service, UL 1821, Section13 except the piping shall be initially pressurized wi

13、esentative pipe and fitting assemblies shall not shatter or fragment when impacted on the pipesidewall when tested as specified in 6.1.2, 6.2 and 6.3.6.1.2 The impact testing shall be conducted at a room temperature of 77F (25C) or less within 5minutes of their removal from the conditioning temperat

14、ure, in accordance with the method described inthe Standard Test Method for Determination of the Impact Resistance of Thermoplastic Pipe and Fittingsby Means of a Tup (Falling Weight), ASTM D2444.6.2 Impact with flat Tup6.2.1 Representative pipe and fitting assemblies for each impact value in the mi

15、nimum and maximumdiameter measuring at least 24 inches (61 cm) in length shall be conditioned for a minimum of 16 hoursat the minimum rated temperature.6.2.2 Immediately following conditioning, each pipe and fitting assembly is to be pressurized to 15 +0/-1psig (103 +0/-7 kPa) with air or nitrogen,

16、placed on a steel V block supporting at least 50% of theexposed pipe length between fittings and subjected to an impact using the Tup specified in 6.2.3.6.2.3 The Tup shall be a 2 pounds-mass (0.9 kg) weight in the form of a 1.25 inch (31.7 mm) diametersteel cylinder with a flat impact face having r

17、ounded edges. The impact value is to be 5 foot-pounds (6.75J) for pipe sizes up to and including 1-1/4 inch (25.4 mm) and 7.5 foot-pounds (10.2 J) for pipe sizes largerthan 1-1/4 inch.DECEMBER 16, 2005 SUBJECT 1821A 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITH

18、OUT PERMISSION FROM UL6.3 Impact with conical shaped tup6.3.1 Representative pipe and fitting assemblies for each conditioning temperature both in the minimumand maximum diameter measuring at least 24 inches (61 cm) in length shall be conditioned for a minimumof 16 hours at the minimum rated tempera

19、ture, 32F (0C), and 70F (21C).6.3.2 Additional representative pipe and fitting assemblies measuring at least 18 inches (46 cm) shall besubjected to Ultraviolet Light and Water Exposure as specified in the Standard for Thermoplastic SprinklerPipe and Fittings for Fire Protection Service, UL 1821. Aft

20、er the exposure, the samples shall beconditioned for a minimum of 16 hours at the minimum rated temperature.6.3.3 Immediately following conditioning, each pipe and fitting assembly is to be pressurized to 30 +2/-0psig (206 +14/-0 kPa) with air or nitrogen, placed on a steel V block supporting at lea

21、st 50 percent ofthe exposed pipe length between fittings and subjected to an impact using the Tup specified in 6.3.4.6.3.4 The Tup shall be constructed of steel and have a conical shaped tip and smooth surface. Theimpact value is to be sufficient to perforate the pipe sidewall without excessively de

22、forming the pipe duringimpact. 24、ll comply with the Hydrostatic Pressure Test, Section 23 of UL 1821, afterbeing subjected to temperature cycling from the minimum rated temperature to the maximum ratedtemperature.7.2 The assembly of the pipe and fittings shall be in accordance with the installation and design manual.For flexible pi

25、ping products, samples are to be bent to the minimum bending radius specified in theinstallation and design manual.7.3 The pipe and fitting assemblies are to be pressurized with air or nitrogen to 15 +1/- 0 psig (103 +7/-0kPa) at 70 7F, and subjected to temperature cycles of the minimum rated temper

26、ature to the maximumrated temperature to the minimum rated temperature. Each assembly is to be held at each temperaturespecified for a period of 24 hours. A total of 5 complete cycles are to be completed.7.4 The length of exposed pipe between fittings is to have a minimum length of ten times the dia

27、meter ofthe pipe.Exception: Shorter pipe lengths shall be permitted to be used when testing fitting assemblies.INSTRUCTIONS8 Installation and Design Manual8.1 A copy of the installation and design manual shall be provided for use as a reference in theexamination and testing of pipe and fittings.8.2

28、In addition to the information specified in UL 1821, Section 35, the installation and design manualshall reference the information required for proper installation of low pressure dry system piping and shallinclude at least the following items:a) Maximum rated air pressure not exceeding 15 psig;b) M
