12、ON ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover laundry equipment accessories consisting of fabric care products intendedfor use with dry-clean only fabrics, hand washables, and other special care garments in accordance withthe manufacturers instructions f
13、or the product. These products are intended for use only in household,electric- and gas-heated clothes dryers.1.2 The products covered are not intended for use in commercial dryers or compact household dryers.1.3 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems ne
14、w or differentfrom those covered by the requirements in this Outline of Investigation, and that involves a risk of fire,electric shock, or injury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component andend-product requirements to determine that the level of safety as originally a
15、nticipated by the intent of thisOutline of Investigation is maintained. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials,or systems conflict with specific requirements or provisions of this Outline of Investigation shall not bejudged to comply with this Outline of Investigation. Wher
16、e appropriate, revision of requirements shall beproposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, andimplementation of this Outline of Investigation.2 Units of Measurement2.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requirement. 18、nitions apply.4.2 CLOTH TREATING SOLUTION A solution formulated to penetrate and breakdown stains.4.3 DRYER-ACTIVATED SHEET A cloth that has been impregnated with a solution intended todeodorize garments when activated by the heat of a clothes dryer.4.4 FABRIC CARE PRODUCT A product intended to trea
19、t laundry stains, freshen garments, or bothwhile being tumbled in a heated household-type clothes dryer.4.5 FLASH POINT The minimum temperature of a liquid at which vapor is evolved in sufficientquantity to form a flammable mixture.4.6 GARMENT An article of clothing.4.7 GARMENT BAG A textile or poly

22、or Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, UL 94.Exception: Polymeric film materials are not required to be classified in accordance with UL 94 when theburning rate of the material does not exceed 1.2 in/s (30.5 mm/s) in accordance with the Code of FederalReg
23、ulations, Title 16, 16CFR 1611.3.5.2 The cloth treating solution shall be investigated for use in a closed, household environment and shallnot be a risk of fire or injury to persons with regards to inhalation, oral ingestion, eye contact, and dermalexposure.PERFORMANCE6 Flash Point Test6.1 Liquid co
24、mponents of the fabric care product are to be tested in accordance with the Flash Point Testin the Standard Test Methods for Flash-Point by Pensky-Martens Closed Cup Tester, ASTM D93. As aresult of the test, there shall not be ignition of vapors up to the boiling point of the liquid.7 Ignition Tempe
25、rature Test7.1 The ignition temperature of liquid components of the fabric care product shall be determined inaccordance with the Ignition Temperature (Autogenous) Test in the Standard for Tests for ComparativeFlammability of Liquids, UL 340. As a result of the test, the liquid shall not ignite or b
26、urn.8 Spontaneous Heating Test8.1 Liquid components of the fabric care product are to be tested in accordance with the SpontaneousHeating Test in the Standard for Tests for Comparative Flammability of Liquids, UL 340. 28、 Flammability of Liquids, UL 340. As aresult of the test, the liquid shall not ignite or burn.10 Normal Use10.1 As a result of the tests described in 10.2, there shall not be deterioration of the materials, emissionof flame or molten metal, or a risk of fire or injury to persons.10.2 The product is
29、to be tested following the manufacturers instructions. The testing is to be performedin both an electric and gas dryer. The test cloths specified in the Standard for Electric Clothes Dryers, UL2158, for dryer loading are to be used.11 Abnormal Use Test11.1 As a result of the tests described in 11.2
30、11.3, there shall not be deterioration of the materials,emission of flame or molten metal, or a risk of fire or injury to persons.11.2 Other than for the conditions specified in 11.3, the product is to be tested following themanufacturers instructions and subjected to all of the conditions specified
31、 in 11.3. The tests are to beperformed in both an electric and gas dryer. The test cloths specified in the Standard for Electric ClothesDryers, UL 2158, for dryer loading are to be used.11.3 The product is to be tested under the following conditions. A separate test is to be performed foreach condit
32、ion. Unless otherwise specified, the remaining manufacturers use and Important Safetyinstructions are to be followed after each condition.a) The entire contents of the cloth treating solution provided with the fabric care product or 4 oz(118.3 cc), whichever is greater, is to be poured on the test c
33、loths.b) Five times the quantity of dryer-activated sheets specified in the manufacturers instructionsis to be added to the garment bag.c) The garment bag is to be filled with test cloths equal to two times the garment load specifiedby the manufacturers instructions or 13 lb (5.9 kg), whichever is g
34、reater.d) The garment bag is to be ripped in various locations throughout the bag. For example,parallel slits oriented 90 degrees with respect to the slits on the opposite surface 10 in (254mm) long and 10 in apart.e) The garment bag is not to be used.f) The instructions for the temperature are not

36、manufacturers name, trade name, or trademark or other descriptive marking identifyingthe organization responsible for the product,b) A distinctive (catalog or model) number or the equivalent, andc) The date or other dating period of manufacture not exceeding any three consecutive months.Exception No
37、. 1: Manufacturers identification in a traceable code when the product is identified by thebrand or trademark owned by a private labeler complies with this requirement.Exception No. 2: An abbreviated date of manufacture or the date of manufacture in a nationallyrecognized conventional code or in a c
38、ode affirmed by the manufacturer complies with this requirement,when the code:a) Does not repeat in less than 20 years, andb) Does not require reference to the production records of the manufacturer to determine whenthe product was manufactured.12.2 The container of the cloth treating solution shall
39、 be marked as nonflammable.12.3 Refill kits shall be marked in accordance with 12.1.13 Cautionary13.1 There shall not be substitution for the words WARNING or CAUTION in the text of a marking.Combining similar requirements under one signal word is in compliance with this requirement. The lettersin t
40、he signal words shall be in capital letters and not less than 3/32 in (2.4 mm) high.13.2 The product carton shall be permanently marked with the word WARNING and the following orequivalent: Risk of Fire, Do Not Dry Articles That Have Been Soaked in or Spotted with Gasoline,Dry-cleaning Solvents, or
41、Other Flammable or Explosive Substances. Use Only the Cloth TreatingSolution Provided with the _ Kit. The blank is to be filled in with the appropriate product designation.13.3 The product carton shall be permanently marked with the word WARNING and the following orequivalent: Risk of Injury to Pers

The blanks are to be filled in with the appropriate productdesignation.INSTRUCTIONS14 User Instructions14.1 The product shall be provided with legible user instructions pertaining to a
47、risk of fire or injury topersons associated with the use of the product within the product carton.14.2 The instructions shall contain directions and information required for the use and disposal of theproduct.15 Important Safety Instructions15.1 The product shall be provided with important safety in
48、structions within the product carton. Theinstructions shall include items (a) (c) in 15.2. The statement IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSshall precede the list and the statement SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS or the equivalent shall eitherprecede or follow the list.15.2 The text of all required instructions s
49、hall be in the words specified or in words that are equivalent,clear, and understandable. There shall not be a substitute for the word WARNING. Combining similarrequirements under one signal word is in compliance with this requirement.IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSa) WARNING To reduce the risk of fire:1) Do not dry articles that have been soaked in or spotted with gasoline, dry-cleaningsolvents, or other flammable or explosive substances.
