7、ammable and combustible liquids as used herein means:a) Gasoline;b) Gasoline/ethanol blends at levels designated “gasohol” or less;c) Diesel fuel; andd) Kerosene.1.3 Meters covered by this Outline are for use in accordance with the National Fire ProtectionAssociations Flammable and Combustible Liqui

8、d Code, NFPA 30, and the Code for Motor FuelDispensing Facilities and Repair Garages, NFPA 30A.1.4 These requirements do not cover:a) Flammable and combustible liquid meters other than of the rebuilt type;b) LP-Gas meters;c) Velocity meters, head meters, or area meters; ord) Meters for use in centra

See Appendix A for a list of standards coveri

11、ng components used in theproducts covered by this Outline2.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this Outline, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in t

12、his Outline.2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended conditions ofuse.2.4 Specific components are incomplete in construction features or restricted in performance capabilities.Such components are intended for use only under limited conditions, such as

15、ion for Diesel FuelOils, ANSI/ASTM D975.5.3 GASOLINE Fuel formulated in accordance with the Standard Specification for Automotive Spark-Ignition Motor Fuel, ANSI/ASTM D4814.5.4 GASOLINE/ETHANOL BLENDS Blended fuels formulated in accordance with the StandardSpecification for Automotive Spark-Ignition

16、 Motor Fuel, ANSI/ASTM D4814, when blended withdenatured fuel ethanol formulated in accordance with the Standard Specification for Denatured FuelEthanol for Blending with Gasolines for Use as Automotive Spark-Ignition Engine Fuels, ANSI/ASTMD4806.5.5 KEROSINE Fuel formulated in accordance with the S

17、tandard Specification for Kerosine, ANSI/ASTM D3699.SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 SUBJECT 2585 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULCONTRUCTION6 General6.1 Meters shall comply with the requirements in the Standard for Meters for Flammable and

18、 CombustibleLiquids and LP-Gas, UL 25, except for as modified as follows:a) Gaskets and Seals shall comply with Section 7 of this Outline.b) The Performance Section of UL 25 shall be replaced by the Performance Section of thisOutline. Compliance with the tests described in Sections911arerequired to

19、bedemonstrated.c) Manufacturing and production line tests shall comply with Section 12 of this Outline.7 Gaskets and Seals7.1 Gaskets and seals shall be resistant to the action of the fluid to which they will be exposed.7.2 For flat flanges, a plant fiber gasket shall be note more than 0.8 mm (1/32

20、inch) thick. Acork-composition gasket shall be shellacked in place on one side and coated with graphite on the other.Synthetic rubber gaskets shall have a minimum thickness of 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) and a maximum thicknessof 2.4 mm (3/32 inch).7.3 An elastomeric part used in contact with liquid shall ha

21、ve the following properties when tested asspecified in the Standard for Gasket and Seals, UL 157.a) Those properties relating to minimum tensile strength and elongation after oven aging, asspecified in UL 157. The maximum service temperature used to determine the conditioning timeand temperature for

22、 oven aging is determined to be 60C (140F), unless the product isdesignated for use at higher temperature.b) Low temperature rating of minus 29C (minus 20F).c) Volume change and extraction as specified in the requirements for UL 157, for end useapplications of the fuels covered in this Outline.7.4 T

23、he Standard for Gasket and Seals, UL 157, provides for the testing of either finished elastomericparts, or sheet or slab material. Sheet or slab material is to be tested when the elastomeric parts areO-rings having a diameter less than 25.4 mm (1 inch). The material tested is to be the same as that

25、ecific model of rebuilt meter is to be subjected to the testsdescribed in these requirements. Additional samples of parts constructed of nonmetallic materials, suchas gaskets and seals, are generally required for physical and chemical tests.8.2 Endurance tests on rebuilt meters are to use kerosene o

26、r the equivalent as the test medium.8.3 Liquids, such as water or hydraulic oil, are to be used for developing the required pressure in ahydrostatic pressure strength test.8.4 All leakage and hydrostatic pressure strength tests are to be maintained for at least 1 minute.9 Leakage Test9.1 A rebuilt f

27、lammable and combustible liquid meter, before being subjected to the Endurance Test,Section 10, shall withstand, without leakage, a minimum internal liquid pressure of 1-1/2 times themaximum working pressure.9.2 The rebuilt meter is to be connected to a source of liquid or aerostatic pressure. A pos

28、itive shutoffvalve and a calibrated pressure indicating device shall be installed in the pressure supply piping. Thepressure indicating device is to be installed in the piping between the shutoff valve and the device undertest.9.3 In accordance with 9.2, the pressure indicating device shall comply w

29、ith one of the following:a) An analog gauge having a pressure range such that the test pressure is between 30 and 70percent of the maximum scale reading of the gauge;b) A digital pressure transducer, or other digital gauge, that is calibrated over a range ofpressure that includes the test pressure;

30、orc) Other devices that are equivalent to the devices in (a) or (b).9.4 While the rebuilt meter is under the applied test pressure, all joints are to be examined for evidenceof liquid leakage.SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 SUBJECT 2585 7UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUT

31、ION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL10 Endurance Test10.1 A rebuilt meter shall not show evidence of leakage through a register shaft stuffing box or seal, orevidence of leakage through any joint, at a pressure of 1-1/2 times its maximum working pressure, afterthe meter has been subjected to 300 hours of

32、continuous operation under the conditions described below.10.2 An endurance test on a rebuilt meter is to be conducted on a sample previously subjected to theLeakage Test, Section 9. The sample is to be operated continuously for a total of 300 hours, 50 hours atthe maximum working pressure and 250 h

33、ours at a pressure of 20 percent of the maximum workingpressure. Throughout the 300 hour test, the register shaft shall be caused to rotate. Other conditions ofthe tests are to simulate, insofar as practicable, those of actual service.10.3 Following completion of the endurance test, the rebuilt mete

34、r is to be subjected to the leakage testspecified in Section 9. While the meter is under the test pressure, the register shaft stuffing box or sealand all body joints in the assembly are to be examined of evidence of leakage.11 Hydrostatic Strength Test11.1 A rebuilt meter shall withstand, without r

35、upture, a minimum hydrostatic pressure of five times theirmaximum working pressure.11.2 A sample of the rebuilt meter, previously subjected to the Leakage and Endurance Tests, Section 9and 10 respectively, is to be used. The sample is to be connected to a source of hydrostatic pressure. Apositive sh

36、utoff valve and a calibrated pressure indicating device are to be installed in the pressure-supplypiping. The pressure indicating device is to be installed in the pressure-supply piping between the shutoffvalve and the meter. The pressure indicating device shall comply with one of the following:a) A

37、n analog gauge having a pressure range such that the test pressure is between 30 and 70percent of the maximum scale reading of the gauge;b) A digital pressure transducer, or other digital gauge, that is calibrated over a range ofpressure that includes the test pressure; orc) Other device that is equ

38、ivalent to the devices in (a) or (b).Care is to be taken to completely fill the test sample with liquid and expel all air.11.3 External leakage observed during this test does not constitute a failure, if following the hydrostaticstrength test, the rebuilt meter is in compliance with the requirements

39、 for leakage specified in the LeakageTest, Section 9.SEPTEMBER 12, 2008SUBJECT 25858UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULMANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION LINE TESTS12 General12.1 To determine conformance with these requirements in produ

40、ction, the manufacturer shall providethe necessary production control, inspection, and test. The program shall include at least the followingtests.12.2 Each rebuilt meter, after the rebuilding process, shall be tested for external leakage at a liquid or anaerostatic pressure of not less than the rat

41、ed working pressure, with a minimum test pressure of 50 psig(345 kPa).12.3 Castings shall be free from scales, lumps, cracks, blisters, sand holes, and defects of any naturewhich could make them unfit for the use for which they are intended.12.4 Each meter shall be operated and determined to be in p

42、roper condition before shipment.MARKINGS13 General13.1 A rebuilt meter shall be marked with the following:a) The manufacturers or private labelers name or identifying symbol.b) A distinctive catalog number or other designation to specifically identify the meter.c) The direction of flow.d) The maximu

43、m working pressure of the rebuilt meter.e) The date of remanufacture of the meter.13.2 With reference to the requirement of 13.1(e), the date of remanufacture shall be by month and year,or quarter and year, or the equivalent. This information shall be located on or near the nameplate.13.3 All markin

44、gs shall be legible and permanent. See Permanence of Marking, Section 14, for details.Exception: The marking required by 13.5 is not required to be permanent.13.4 If a manufacturer remanufactures meters at more than one factory, each rebuilt meter shall have adistinctive marking to identify it as th

45、e product of a particular factory.13.5 Rebuilt meters intended for use in installations where pipe fittings incorporate other than NPT typethreads shall be permitted to be provided with pipe threads complying with a national pipe thread standardcompatible with those fittings. The pipe thread type sh

46、all be identified by a marking provided on the rebuiltmeter. 47、PRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL14 Permanence of Marking14.1 A marking that is required to be permanent shall be:a) Molded;b) Die-stamped;c) Paint stenciled;d) Stamped or etched metal that is permanently secured (such as with screws or rivets) to thesurface to which it is affixed

48、e) Indelibly stamped lettering; orf) Printed on a pressure sensitive label.14.2 A pressure sensitive label, or a label secured by cement or adhesive, shall comply with theapplicable requirements for indoor or indoor-outdoor use labels specified in the Standard for Marking andLabeling Systems, UL 96

49、9, as appropriate to the installation location of the device, and when required,the conditioning described in the Exposure Conditions for Common Agents table, in UL 969, or asdescribed in 14.3.14.3 When a label is exposed to unusual conditions in service, which are not covered in the ExposureConditions for Common Agents table in the Standard for Marking and Labeling Systems, UL 969, threesamples of the label applied to test surfaces as in the intended application are to be conditioned for 24hours in a controlled atm
