、an increased risk of fire due to reduction of spacings, loosening ordisplacement of parts, or other serious defects.7.1.2 Nonmetallic materials may be used as all or part of an enclosure if found acceptable for theapplication, as determined by investigation.7.1.3 Among the factors taken into conside

、ration when the acceptability of a nonmetallic material is beingdetermined are its:a) Physical strength;b) Resistance to impact;c) Moisture-absorptive properties;d) Combustibility; ande) Resistance to distortion at temperatures to which it may be subjected under conditions ofnormal and abnormal use.

、These factors are considered with respect to thermal aging.7.1.4 Unless the enclosure is of a material that will resist corrosion, both inside and outside surfaces shallbe protected by painting, galvanizing, plating, or other equivalent means.7.1.5 A part of the enclosure, such as a door, cover, or

、tank, shall be provided with a means, such aslatches, locks, interlocks, or captive fasteners, for firmly securing it in place. Such fasteners shall be solocated or used in multiple so as to hold the door or cover closed over its entire length. A hinged covermore than 48 inches (1219 mm) long on the

、 hinged side shall have at least a two point latch operated bya single knob or handle, or at least two captive fasteners.7.1.6 An enclosure cover shall be hinged if it gives access to fuses or any other overload-protectivedevices, the functioning of which requires renewal, or if it is necessary to o

Flanges on a door or cover shallfit closely with the outside

、 walls of the box proper and shall not be less than 7/16 inch (11.1 mm) in depth.A combination of flange and rabbet is acceptable. Figure 7.2 illustrates typical constructions that areconsidered to comply with this paragraph. Other constructions may be evaluated. This is generated text for figtxt.7.1
