This Outline of Investigation contains basic requirements for products covered by UnderwritersLabor

3、atories Inc. (UL) under its Follow-Up Service for this category within the limitations given below andin the Scope section of this Outline of Investigation. They are subject to revision as further experience andinvestigation may show is necessary or desirable.B. The observance of these requirements

4、by a manufacturer is one of the conditions of the continuedcoverage of the manufacturers product.C. A product which complies with the text of this Outline of Investigation will not necessarily be judged tocomply with the Outline of Investigation if, when examined and tested, it is found to have othe

5、r featureswhich impair the level of safety contemplated by these requirements.D. A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or differentfrom those covered by the requirements in this Outline of Investigation, and that involves a risk of fire orof electri

6、c shock or injury to persons shall be evaluated using appropriate additional component andend-product requirements to maintain the level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of thisOutline of Investigation. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systemsconf

7、lict with specific requirements or provisions of this Outline of Investigation does not comply with thisOutline of Investigation. Revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with themethods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this Outline of Investigat

8、ion.E. UL, in performing its functions in accordance with its objectives, does not assume or undertake todischarge any responsibility of the manufacturer or any other party. The opinions and findings of ULrepresent its professional judgement given with due consideration to the necessary limitations

9、of practicaloperation and state of the art at the time the Outline of Investigation is processed. UL shall not beresponsible to anyone for the use of or reliance upon this Outline of Investigation by anyone. 11、2001SUBJECT 429A4INTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover electrically operated valves intended for use in fire service systems suchas sprinkler systems installed in accordance with the Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems,NFPA 13.CONSTRUCTION2 General2.1 Electrically operated v

12、alves for fire protection service shall be constructed to comply with thefollowing:1) The requirements for a Safety Valve as defined in the Standard for Electrically OperatedValves, UL 429 and2) The performance requirements in this Outline of Investigation.PERFORMANCE3 Overpressure Operation Test3.1

13、 An electrically operated valve shall operate without malfunction when subjected to the overpressureoperation test specified in 3.2.3.2 Sample valves are to be installed in a supply line having pressure applied at twice the maximumoperating pressure differential of the valve. The valves are to be op

14、erated ten times with each coil at atemperature of 70F (25C) and energized at its rated coil voltage.4 Undervoltage Operation Test4.1 An electrically operated valve shall operate as intended when subjected to the undervoltage operationtest specified in 4.2.4.2 Sample valves used in the overpressure

15、operation tests are to be installed in a supply line havingpressure applied at the maximum rated pressure. The valves are to be operated ten times with each coilat a temperature of 70F (25C) and energized at 65 percent of rated coil voltage.JULY 31, 2001 SUBJECT 429A 55 High-Temperature Endurance Te

16、st5.1 An electrically operated valve shall operate as intended when subjected to the high-temperatureendurance test specified in 5.2.5.2 Sample valves are to be conditioned at the maximum operating temperature for a minimum of 16hours before conducting the test and throughout the test duration. The

17、valves are then to be connectedto a pressure supply line at maximum rated pressure, and operated for 3000 cycles.6 Low-Temperature Endurance Test6.1 An electrically operated valve shall operate as intended when subjected to the low-temperatureendurance test specified in 6.2.6.2 Immediately following

18、 the High Temperature Endurance Test, Section 5, the same samples are to beconditioned to the minimum operating temperature for a minimum of 16 hours before conducting the testand throughout the test duration. The valves are then to be connected to a pressure supply line atmaximum rated pressure. Th

19、e valves are then to be operated for an additional 3000 cycles.7 Seat Leakage Test7.1 An electrically operated valve shall show no evidence of leakage when subjected to the seat leakagetest specified in 7.2.7.2 Immediately following the Low-Temperature Endurance Test, Section 6, and with the valveconditioned at minimum operating temperature, the valve are to be connected for 5 minutes to a pressuresupply line at maximum rated pressure.JULY 31, 2001SUBJECT 429A6
