6、UCTION1 ScopeClause 1 effective May 30, 20161.1 These requirements cover electrical resistance trace heating and associated accessories and controlsfor use in fire sprinkler and standpipe systems. This equipment is intended for installation in accordancewith the manufacturers installation instructio

7、ns and the applicable requirements of the followingstandards:a) IEEE Standard for the Testing, Design, Installation, and Maintenance of ElectricalResistance Trace Heating for Industrial Applications, IEEE 515,b) IEEE Standard for the Testing, Design, Installation, and Maintenance of ElectricalResist

8、ance Trace Heating for Commercial Applications, IEEE 515.1,c) Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, ANSI/NFPA 13,d) Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in Low-Rise Residential Occupancies,ANSI/NFPA 13R,e) Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two

9、-Family Dwellings andManufactured Homes, ANSI/NFPA 13D,f) Standard for the Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems, ANSI/NFPA 14, andg) National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 702 ComponentsClause 2 effective May 30, 20162.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this Outline

15、ing Control UnitsClause 6 effective May 30, 20166.1 General6.1.1 Trace heating control units shall comply with one of the following standards:a) Standard for Industrial Control Panels, UL 508Ab) Standard for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control, and Laboratory Use; Part 1:General Requiremen

16、ts, ANSI/UL 61010-1c) Standard for Control Units and Accessories for Fire Alarm Systems, ANSI/UL 864MAY 30, 2014 UL 515A 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL6.2 Safety Performance Tests6.2.1 In addition to the requirements in 6.1.

17、1, trace heating controls shall comply with the followingrequirements of ANSI/UL 864, as applicable to the construction of the control unit.a) Software, Section 54b) Variable Voltage Operation Test, Section 59c) Compatibility Tests, Section 61d) Component Temperature Test, Section 62e) Variable Ambi

18、ent Temperature and Humidity Tests, Section 65f) Transient Tests, Section 716.2.2 To assess the ability of the control units to annunciate a loss of incoming supply voltage asreferenced in IEEE 515.1, a complete loss of power shall be permitted to be used to verify thisannunciation.MARKING7 GeneralC

19、lause 7 effective May 30, 20167.1 Trace heating cables and associated controls shall be marked in accordance with the requirementsin IEEE 515.1 that are applicable to use in sprinkler systems.INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS8 GeneralClause 8 effective May 30, 20168.1 Trace heating cables shall be provided

20、with installation instructions that include informationreferenced in IEEE 515.1 applicable to use in sprinkler systems.8.2 In addition to the information referenced in 8.1, the installation instructions shall include the following:a) Reference to a methodology for determining heat loss that provides

21、 for heat loss rates thatare consistent with or more stringent than those described in IEEE 515 and 515.1.b) It shall specify that not less than one temperature sensor shall be provided for each heatingcircuit.c) Reference to indoor use only unless investigated for outdoor use in accordance with IEEE515.1.MAY 30, 2014UL 515A6
