6、bine Converter (WTC) products and assemblies. Some of thefeatures and functions of these products include but are not limited to, generation of real and reactivepower in parallel with the electric power system, EPS (electric utility grid), supplying power in a standaloneoperational mode, multiple mo

7、de operation, and bidirectional power flow operation with the EPS.1.2 These requirements address WTC products and assemblies intended for installation in accordancewith their ratings, installation instructions, the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, and applicableutility and model building code

8、s.1.3 These requirements also address wind turbine utility interconnection systems equipment (WTUISE)that performs utility interconnection protection functions for paralleling wind turbines with the EPS.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this outline shal

9、l comply with therequirements for that component. See Appendix A for a list of standards covering components generallyused in the products covered by this outline.2.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the ap

10、plication of the component in theproduct covered by this outline, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this outline.2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended conditions ofuse.2.4 Specific components are incomplete in construction features or restricte

17、 intended for stand-alone operation shall comply with the applicable stand-alone performancerequirements in the Standard for Inverters, Converters, Controllers and Interconnection SystemEquipment for Use With Distributed Energy Resources, UL 1741.9 Utility Grid Interaction9.1 General9.1.1 WTCs rated

18、 for connection and operation with an EPS shall be evaluated for the purpose asspecified by this section.9.2 Utility grid interaction performance9.2.1 For utility interactive WTCs or WTUISE that perform Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) electric gridsupport, the WTGS shall be evaluated in accordance w

19、ith Wind turbines Part 21: Measurement andassessment of power quality characteristics of grid connected wind turbines, IEC 61400-21, to confirm themanufacturers declared electrical and power quality ratings.Exception: A WTC need not be evaluated as required in 9.2.1 provided it is marked in accordan

20、ce with11.3 and 12.2.9.2.2 Utility interactive WTCs or WTUISE intended for connection at electric utility distribution levels shallcomply with the applicable requirements of the Standard for Inverters, Converters, Controllers andInterconnection System Equipment for Use With Distributed Energy Resour

21、ces, UL 1741, the Standard forInterconnecting Distributed Resources With Electric Power Systems, IEEE 1547, and the Standard forConformance Test Procedures for Equipment Interconnecting Distributed Resources with Electric PowerSystems, IEEE 1547.1.Exception: A WTC need not be evaluated as required i

22、n 9.2.2 provided it is marked in accordance with11.3 and 12.2.9.2.3 Utility interactive WTCs or WTUISE with features or functions in addition to those specified by theStandard for Inverters, Converters, Controllers and Interconnection System Equipment for Use WithDistributed Energy Resources, UL 174

23、1, the Standard for Power Conversion Equipment, UL 508C, theStandard for Interconnecting Distributed Resources With Electric Power Systems, IEEE 1547, Windturbines Part 21: Measurement and assessment of power quality characteristics of grid connected windturbines, IEC 61400-21, or any combination of

24、 these standards, shall be evaluated for compliance with themanufacturers specifications and shall not result in electric shock, fire, energy, or mechanical risks asdefined by UL 1741 or UL 508C.9.2.4 WTC utility interconnection normal operation mode is defined as operation at any point within thead

26、M UL9.2.5 WTC utility interconnection abnormal operation mode is defined as operation at any point betweenthe WTGS Utility Interconnection Normal Operation Mode limits and the most extreme of the WTGS ratedoperational limits. This range is typically evaluated during the evaluation of the protection

27、functions by theStandard for Interconnecting Distributed Resources With Electric Power Systems, IEEE 1547, and theStandard for Conformance Test Procedures for Equipment Interconnecting Distributed Resources withElectric Power Systems, IEEE 1547.1.9.2.6 A unit that is marked in accordance with 11.3 s

28、hall be evaluated in accordance with the Standardfor Inverters, Converters, Controllers and Interconnection System Equipment for Use With DistributedEnergy Resources, UL 1741, (not including the IEEE 1547 and IEEE 1547.1 requirements andsubsequent marking) during Utility Interconnection Normal Opera

29、tion Mode. A WTC shall comply with allUL 1741 tests during all normal operational modes including but not limited to generationsub-synchronous, synchronous, super-synchronous and active power factor correction if the WTGS isprovided with these functions.9.2.7 A WTC shall comply with the abnormal req

30、uirements of the Standard for Inverters, Converters,Controllers and Interconnection System Equipment for Use With Distributed Energy Resources, UL 1741,while the turbine is operated in Utility Interconnection Abnormal Operation Mode.10 Abnormal Conditions10.1 WTC assemblies shall not generate electr

31、ic shock, fire, or mechanical risks as required in the otherstandards referenced in General, Section 5. A unit shall not emit flame or molten metal or become a riskof fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.10.2 The unit shall not generate fire or burn risks under normal or single fault abnormal

32、conditions.MARKINGS, RATINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS11 Markings and Ratings11.1 The product markings shall comply with the marking requirements in the Standard for Inverters,Converters, Controllers and Interconnection System Equipment for Use With Distributed EnergyResources, UL 1741, or the Standard for P

33、ower Conversion Equipment, UL 508C. WTC or WTUISE shallbe provided with marked ratings as required by UL 1741, Wind turbines Part 21: Measurement andassessment of power quality characteristics of grid connected wind turbines, IEC 61400-21, or both, forits intended installation location.11.2 WTCs sha

34、ll be rated to reflect the products results of the Short Circuit Test Standard FaultCurrents of the Standard for Power Conversion Equipment, UL 508C.11.3 As required by the exceptions in 9.2.1 and 9.2.2, the unit shall be permanently marked and readilyvisible on or near the units ratings marking wit

35、h the word WARNING and the following or equivalent:This unit has not been evaluated for utility interconnection protective functions. This unit shall be providedwith external utility relay protection in accordance with local codes and local utility requirements. Thisinformation on this marking shall
