6、 of Article 690 - SolarPhotovoltaic Systems of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.1.2 Multi-pole PV connectors may consist of connectors, panel mounted connectors, distribution blocksand splitter connectors for the purpose of facilitating connections to and from inverters and like devices ina PV

7、system.1.3 Multi-pole PV connectors are suitable for the termination of insulated, stranded copper type TC-ER,USE-2 or Photovoltaic Wire (PV Wire) rated 90C, 105C, 125C, or 150C dry; 90C wet; 600, 1000, or2000 V.1.4 This standard does not apply to:a) Single polarity dc connectors covered by the Outl

8、ine in Investigation for Connectors for Usein Photovoltaic Systems, Subject 6703, andb) PV wiring harnesses or cable assemblies consisting of connectors (single or multi-pole)assembled onto cables.2 General2.1 Units of measurement2.1.1 The requirements in this outline are stated in metric units that

9、 make the requirement convenientlyuseable in countries employing the various metric systems (practical SI and customary). In addition tobeing stated in metric units, the inch/pound units, that are customary in the USA, are also provided. Thevalues given in SI (metric) units shall be normative, excep

10、t for AWG conductor sizes. Any other valuesgiven are for information purposes only.2.1.2 Equivalent - although, not necessarily exactly identical - results are to be expected from applying arequirement in USA or metric terms. Equipment calibrated in metric units is to be used when arequirement is ap

13、 options that terminates intwo or more outlets or that terminates in two or more female cable fittings for the purpose of distributingpower to additional outlets/inlets.3 Components3.1 Except as indicated in 3.2, a component of a product covered by this Outline of Investigation shallcomply with the

14、requirements for that component. See Appendix A for a list of standards coveringcomponents generally used in the products covered by this Outline of Investigation.3.2 A component need not comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not needed in the application of

15、 the component in theproduct covered by this Outline of Investigation, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this Outline of Investigation.3.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its recognized rating established for the intendedconditions of use.3.4 Specific components are recognized as b

16、eing incomplete in construction features or restricted inperformance capabilities. Such components are intended for use only under limited conditions, such ascertain temperatures not exceeding specified limits, and shall be used only under those specific conditionsfor which they have been recognized

18、taic Systems, Subject 6703, as appropriate, and with thisOutline of Investigation.4.2 Multi-pole PV connectors shall additionally comply with the following construction requirements, asappropriate, in the Standard for Cable Assemblies and Fittings for Industrial Control and SignalDistribution, UL 22

30、r on or within the unit container inwhich the connector is packed. 32、rage of the tool and dies; or4) On the connector.Location of the crimping points only, without additional instructions, may be marked onthe connector if the additional required information is located as indicated in item (1),(2), or (3).c) CONDUCTOR STRIP LENGTH - Strip length marking shall appear:1

33、) On the connector;2) On the unit container or on an information sheet contained therein;3) On an insulating cover; or4) On the tool or on the carrying case provided for its permanent storage if:i) The connector requires the use of a specific tool for its application; andii) The strip length applies

34、 to all insulated connectors with which the tool isused.d) PRELIMINARY PREPARATION OF CONDUCTOR REQUIRED - Instructions for preparationof the conductors, such as twisting conductors together before assembly, shall appear on theunit container or an information sheet packed in the unit container.6.5 I

35、f the PV connector has an assigned tightening torque, the assigned value shall be marked wherereadily visible on:a) The connector;b) The unit container; orc) An information sheet packed in the unit container.6.6 A unit container or an information sheet shall be marked with:a) The manufacturers name;

37、bled according to 6.4.6.8 An information sheet shall be marked with the manufacturers name, the catalog number of theconnector to which it pertains or equivalent, and all the other necessary information required by theserequirements. One information sheet shall be provided for each unit container.6.

38、9 The information in 6.2 6.8 shall not be divided between a unit container and an information sheet.If any of the required markings are placed either on the unit container or on the information sheet packedin the unit container, rather than on the connector, then all applicable markings as specified
