10、These requirements cover cord and plug connected, indoor use, dry location Merchandise Displayand Rack Mounted Power Distribution Units (MDRMPDU). They are intended for use on merchandisedisplays, racks and gondola shelving systems in retail stores to provide power for computers, audio andvideo equi
11、pment and other electrical utilization equipment that is displayed on the merchandise display,rack or gondola shelving unit. A MDRMPDU is not intended for use in general applications. These unitsare rated 250 Vac or less, 20 Amp or less, single phase for use on single circuits only.1.2 MDRMPDUs may
12、be extendable.1.3 Merchandise Display Rack Mounted Power Distribution Units are not for use:a) At construction sites and similar locations;b) As a substitute for fixed wiring of a building or structure;c) For routing through walls, windows, ceilings, floors or similar openings of buildings orstructu
13、res;d) For attachment to buildings or structures;e) When concealed by walls, floors, or ceilings; andf) Where subjected to physical damage.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this Outline shall comply with therequirements for that component. 21、h either a line fitting or a load fitting on one endand no fitting on the other end.6.5 DETACHABLE POWER SUPPLY CORD A length of flexible cord with an attachment plug as a linefitting and with a single cord connector as a load fitting.6.6 EXTENDABLE MDRMPDU A MDRMPDU that can be connected to the sam

These units are intended for use on amerchandise display, rack storage or gondola shelving system in stores to provide power for el
25、ectricalutilization equipment that is supported by the merchandise display, rack or gondola shelving system.6.10 NONDETACHABLE POWER SUPPLY CORD A length of flexible cord with an attachment plug asa line fitting and the other end secured to the enclosure.6.11 RACK OR RACKING A support shelving syste
26、m used for the support of palletized merchandise,heavy merchandise, bulk merchandise often found in warehouse store environments.CONSTRUCTION7 General7.1 A Merchandise Display and Rack Mounted Power Distribution Unit (MDRMPDU) covered by thisOutline shall comply with all the requirements contained i
27、n the Standard for Relocatable Power Taps, UL1363, except as specified in this outline.7.2 The overall length of a complete unit including, power supply cord, enclosure(s) and interconnectingcords shall not exceed 50 ft (15.24 m) for a system constructed with 12 AWG copper conductors nor 35ft (10.7
28、m) for a system constructed with 14 AWG copper conductors. The maximum length shall complywith the Grounding Continuity Test, Section 29. The unit shall be marked in accordance with 36.5.7.3 For an extendable MDRMPDU, each MDRMPDU section shall employ a female ANSI/NEMA WD6 -L5-15R, L5-20R, L6-15R o
29、r L6-20R, locking type configuration receptacle for the output of power to thenext unit section. The fitting shall be mounted in the enclosure of the MDRMPDU or as the termination ofa cord whip.Exception: The connector may comply with the connector requirements of the Standard for ManufacturedWiring
30、 Systems, UL 183.7.4 For extendable MDRMPDUs, each MDRMPDU section shall employ a male ANSI/NEMA WD6 -L5-15P, L5-20P, L6-15P or L6-20P, locking type configuration plug for the input of power from theprevious unit section. The fitting shall be mounted in the enclosure of the MDRMPDU or as a terminati
31、onof a cord whip.Exception: The connector may comply with the connector requirements of the Standard for ManufacturedWiring Systems, UL 183.7.5 Mating connectors shall:a) Be of the locking type;b) Be reliably keyed by a physical or mechanical means to maintain correct polarity consistentwith the wir

During disconnection ofmating connectors, the supply-conductor terminals shall disconnect before the grounding-c
34、onductor terminal disconnects; ande) Be rated 15 or 20 amperes.Exception: In a limited-energy circuit, the mating connector may be rated for maximum current available.8 Enclosure8.1 An electrical enclosure shall comply with the Standard for Relocatable Power Taps, UL 1363.8.2 The overall length of a
35、 section enclosure for merchandise displays and gondola shelving shall notexceed 48 in. (1219 mm). The enclosure shall be marked as shown in 36.7.8.3 The overall length of a section enclosure for racks shall not exceed 144 in. (3658 mm).8.4 The enclosure shall contain the load fittings to power the
36、merchandise on display.9 Mechanical Assembly9.1 The physical construction of the MDRMPDU shall comply with the Standard for Relocatable PowerTaps, UL 1363.10 Accessibility of Live Parts10.1 The accessibility of live parts shall comply with the Standard for Relocatable Power Taps, UL 1363.11 Mounting
37、 Means11.1 The mounting means of the MDRMPDU shall comply with the Standard for Furniture PowerDistribution Units, UL 962A, except as detailed in 11.2 11.411.2 Each MDRMPDU shall be provided with a mounting means. The mounting means shall require theuse of a tool for mounting or removal of the enclo
38、sure from the merchandise display, rack or gondolashelving system.11.3 The mounting hardware shall be supplied with each enclosure.11.4 Installation instructions shall be provided. 40、 the construction of the MDRMPDU shall comply with the Standard forRelocatable Power Taps, UL 1363.14 Power Supply Cords, Interconnecting Cord Assemblies and Cord Whips14.1 General14.1.1 Power-supply cords, interconnecting cord assemblies and cord whips shall comply with theStandard for Relocatable
41、Power Taps, UL 1363; power-supply cord requirements except as detailedbelow:a) The minimum conductor size of the flexible cord shall be 14 AWG copper when a L5-15P orL6-15P attachment plug is provided and 12 AWG copper when a L5-20P or L6-20P attachmentplug is provided.b) The power-supply cord for a
42、 merchandise display or gondola shelving system shall be of thegrounding type and shall employ one of the following flexible cord types: SJ, SJE, SJO, SJT,SJTO, or equivalent.c) The power-supply cord for a rack shelving system shall be of the grounding type and shallemploy one of the following flexi
43、ble cord types: S, SE, SO, ST, STO, or equivalent.d) Shall not contain any “Ts”, “Ys” or similar splices or junctions.14.2 Power supply cords14.2.1 A non-detachable or detachable power-supply cord may be used in a MDRMPDU.14.2.2 Attachment plugs shall be of the ANSI/NEMA WD6 - L5-15P, L5-20P, L6-15P
44、 or L6-20P, lockingtype configuration.14.2.3 When provided with a detachable power-supply cord, the cord shall be provided with a cordconnector of the ANSI/NEMA WD6 - L5-15R, L5-20R, L6-15R or L6-20R, locking type configuration at theopposite end of the attachment plug, to mate with the male attachm
45、ent plug or connector in theMDRMPDU section. 47、tings on an interconnecting cord assembly shall be of the ANSI/NEMAWD6 - L5 or L6, 15 or 20 Amp, locking type configuration. The assembly shall be marked in accordancewith 36.5 and 36.6.Exception: The male and female connector may comply with the connector requirements of the Standardfor Manufacture
48、d Wiring Systems, UL 183.14.3.3 An interconnecting cord assembly shall contain one male attachment plug and one femalecord-connector. Interconnecting cord assemblies with two male attachment plugs or two femalecord-connectors are not permitted.Exception: An interconnecting cord assembly shall contai
49、n one male and one female connector thatcomplies with the Standard for Manufactured Wiring Systems, UL 183.14.3.4 An interconnecting cord assembly exceeding 24 in. (610 mm) in length shall be provided with amethod of attaching the cord to the merchandise display, rack or gondola shelving system at intervals notexceeding 24 in. (610 mm). The attachment method shall provide a non-metallic bushing or equivalent indirect contact with the cord jacket. The attachment device shall be secured to the cord in a manner thatrequires a deliberate action by the user
