3、re developed from data published by the U.S. Department of Commerce; the CaesarStudy; the Size USA Study; current U.S. industry; and studies, scans, and documentation fromAlvanon Inc.2These tables take into consideration young men at a standard height of 178 cm 5 ft 10in. (65 % of average U.S. popul

4、ation) taking into account the decrease and increase in body weightthat shift a person from one size to another, while this person does not gain in height. Major evaluationwas done and reviewing the incremental growth at different major body points has been addressed anddefined identifying increase

5、and decrease at different rates in specific areas: chest/bust, waist, high hip,and hip/seat. Additionally, to serve the industry better, incremental movement between sizes wasreviewed ensuring smooth transition between sizes. To verify the proposed body measurements, athree-dimensional avatar was cr

6、eated in the young men size range 32 through 48 by Alvanon Inc. fora visual reference.1. Scope1.1 These tables list body measurements of young menfigure type sizes 32-48. Although these are bodymeasurements, they can be used as a baseline in designingapparel for young men in this size range when con

7、sidering suchfactors as fabric type, ease for body movement, styling, and fit.1.2 These tables list body measurements for the completerange of young men sizing.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system are n

8、ot necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, toensure conformance with the standard, each system shall beused independently of the other, and values from the twosystems shall not be combined.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Significance and Use4.1 The use of the body measurement information in Table1 and Table 2 will assist manufacturers in developing patternsand garments that are consistent with the current anthropomet-ric characteristics of the popula

18、tion of interest. This practiceshould, in turn, reduce or minimize consumer confusion anddissatisfaction related to apparel sizing (also refer to ISO 3635Size Designation Procedures).4.2 Three-dimensional avatars depicting each of the youngmen sizes were created by Alvanon, Inc. and included in this

19、standard to assist manufacturers in visualizing the posture,shape, and proportions generated by the measurements chartsin Table 1 and Table 2. (See Figs. 1-6.)5.
