Scope*1.1 This specification covers metal insert fittings with o-ring seals and copper crimp rings for use with Cross-linkedPolyethylene (PEX) and Cross-linked Polyethylene/Aluminum/Cross-linked Polyethylene (PEX-AL-PEX) tubing in 12, 34 1, and114 in. nominal diamet

These fittings areintended for use in 125 psi (861.9 kPa) (PEX-AL-PEX) and 100 psi (689.5 kPa) (PEX) cold- and hot-water distribution systemsoperating at temperatures up to and including 180F (82C).180 F (82 C)

Classification4.1 This specification covers one class of fittings and copper crimp rings suitable for use with tubing that meets the requirementsof Specifications F876 or F3253 and PEX-AL-PEX tubing that meets the requirements of Specification F2262.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 FittingsThe fi

20、ttings shall be made from one of the following metals:5.1.1 Cast Copper AlloysCast copper alloy fittings shall be made from material meeting the requirements of SpecificationB584, Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C84400, C83800, C87850 or C89844 or Specification B62 Copper Alloy UNS No. C83600.5.1.2 Machined B

The crimp rings shall have a minimum allowable hardness of 35 and amaximum allowable hardness of 45 on the Rockwell 15T scale when measured according to Test Methods E18.5.3 O-ringsO-rings used on the copper alloy fittings

24、to make a static seal shall be manufactured from ethylene propylenerubber (EPDM) or silicone rubber (Si), with a ShoreAdurometer between 60 and 70 when tested in accordance with SpecificationD2240.6. General Requirements6.1 The following sections of Specifications F877 and F2262 constitute a part of

25、 this specification.6.1.1 Use with PEX Tubing (F877):6.1.1.1 Requirements,6.1.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.2 Use with PEX-AL-PEX Tubing (F2262):6.1.2.1 Performance Requirements of Connectors except product marking section.6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical

26、to that referenced in 6.1, appears in this specification, it contains additionalrequirements that supplement those appearing in Specifications F877 and F2262.6.3 DimensionsAny randomly selected fitting or fittings, and crimp ring or crimp rings, shall be used to determine dimensions.Measurements sha

27、ll be made in accordance with Test Method D2122, except determine diameters by making measurements at fourlocations spaced approximately 45 apart around the circumference. 30、nsional requirements of this specification. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specification F876 or F3253. PEX-AL-PEX tubing shall meet the requirements of Specification F2262.Assemblyof test specimens shall be in accordance with 9.1.1. Use separate sets of assemblies for each performance tes

31、t requirement. Inaddition, fittings shall be designed with sufficient overall dimensions to allow proper use of crimp tool without interference withpreviously completed crimps on the same fitting.7. Dimensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tolerances of fittings and crimp rings shal

32、l be as shown in Fig. 1, Fig. 3,Fig. 4, and Table 1, when measured in accordance with 6.3.7.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of any opening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder Joint EndsSolder joint ends shall be in accordance with ASME B16.22, ASME B

33、16.18, or MSSSP-104.7.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads shall be right-hand conforming to ASME B1.20.1. They shall be taper threads(NPT).8. Assembly9.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined

38、to PEX, or PEX-AL-PEX, tubing by the compression of a copper crimp ringaround the outer circumference of the tubing, forcing the tubing material into annular spaces formed by ribs on the fitting. Insertfittings and crimp rings shall meet the dimensional and material requirements of this standard. Th

39、e dimensions andout-of-roundness of the crimp ring, after it has been crimped, shall be in accordance with Table 1.9.1.1 Crimping ProcedureThe crimping procedure shall be as follows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, insert the ribbedend of the fitting into the end of the tubing until the tubing

40、 contacts the shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. The crimp ring shallthen be positioned on the tubing so the edge of the crimp ring is 18 to 14 in. (3.2 to 6.4 mm) from the end of the tube. The jawsof the crimping tool shall be centered over the crimp ring and the tool shall be held so that the c

41、rimping jaws are approximatelyperpendicular to the axis of the barb. The jaws of the crimping tool shall be closed around the crimp ring, compressing the crimpring onto the tubing. The crimp ring shall not be crimped more than once. Each crimp shall be checked to determine conformanceto the after-cr

42、imped dimensional requirements of Table 1.10. Product Marking10.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied to the fittings in such a manner that it remains legible after installationand inspection.10.2 Content of Marking:10.2.1 Marking on fittings shall include manufacturers name or trademark,

43、 or some other identifying mark, and the ASTMstandard number.10.2.1.1 Where recessed marking is used on fittings, care shall be taken to see that the marking shall not cause cracks or reducethe wall thickness below the minimum specified.10.2.2 Marking on packaging shall include manufacturers name, f

44、itting size, and ASTM F2434.10.2.3 Crimp rings:10.2.3.1 Marking on crimp rings shall include manufacturers trademark or some other identifying mark and ASTM F2434.NOTE 1The Barb/O-ring design is covered by a patent.
