3、 withfactory assembled stainless steel press sleeves incorporating 3view holes and a tool locator ring for use with cross-linkedpolyethylene (PEX) tubing in nominal sizes38,12,34,1,114,112, and 2 that meet the requirements for Specification F876 orF3253. These fittings are intended for use in 100 ps

4、i (690 kPa)cold- and hot-water distribution systems operating at tempera-tures up to and including 180 F (82 C). Included are therequirements for material, molded part properties,performance, workmanship, dimensions, and markings to beused on the fittings and sleeves. The components covered bythis s

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsUnless otherwise specified, definitions, ab-breviations and initialisms are in accordance with TerminologyF412 and Terminology D1600.3.2 Definitions:3.2.1 plastic

17、press insert fitting, nA type of fitting jointthat attaches directly to the plastic tubing by mechanicallypressing and deforming an outer stainless steel sleeve over theplastic tubing which then compresses and displaces plastic ontothe insert fittings barbs creating a seal and a permanentconnection.

18、 The seal is realized between the outer diameter ofthe insert fitting and the inner diameter of the plastic tubing.Mechanical pressing is achieved by the use of press tool.3.2.2 press sleeve, nCylindrical shaped stainless steel ringwhich is compressed with a pressing tool while located overthe PEX t

19、ubing securing it permanently to the underlying insertfitting.3.2.3 press tool, nA device by which the stainless sleeveis compressed by a forming die that is radially closed down onthe press sleeve by either hand powered or electro-mechanicalpressing action.4. Classification4.1 This specification go

20、verns one class of fittings andstainless steel press sleeve suitable for use PEX tubing thatmeets either the requirements of Specifications F876 or F3253.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 MaterialFittings shall be molded from sulfone plastic(SP) as specified in Specification D6394. The material shall

21、beunreinforced polyphenylsulfone blends (group 03, Class 1,grade 2) or reworked plastic in accordance with 5.1.1.NOTE 1Since fittings specified by this standard will be used inhot-and-cold water plumbing systems, a material used to manufacturefittings in accordance with this specification must demon

22、strate qualitiesconsistent with that application in addition to the performance require-ments of this specification. Those qualifying characteristics include, butare not limited to, an established hydrostatic design basis (HDB) or stressdesign basis (SDB) in accordance with PPI TR-3 or similar ratin

23、g and ademonstration of resistance to the long-term effects of those chemicalsnormally found in potable water at the maximum temperature stated in thisspecification.5.1.1 Rework MaterialClean rework material of the samecommercial designation, generated from the manufacturersown production may be use

24、d by the same manufacturer,provided the fittings meet all of the requirements of thisspecification. Reworked material shall not be introduced at aratio exceeding 25 %.5.2 Press SleevesPress sleeves shall be made from Speci-fication A269/A269M UNS S30400 or S31600 stainless steeland have an allowable

Requirements7.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblie

35、s of fittings, press sleeves, and PEX tubing. Fittingsand press sleeves shall meet the material and dimensionalrequirements of this specification. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specification F876 or F3253. Use separate setsof assemblies for each performance test requirement.7.2 Fittings m

36、anufactured according to this specification foruse with PEX tubing shall comply with Specification F877Requirements, Test Methods, and Retest and Rejection.7.3 DimensionsThe dimensions and tolerances of fittingsand press sleeves shall be in accordance with Table 1 and Fig.1, Fig. 1A, and Fig. 1B and

37、 Table 2 and Fig. 2 when measuredin accordance with 7.3.1. There shall be no measurable flashallowed. Mismatch shall be limited to a maximum of 0.002 in.7.3.1 MeasurementsAny randomly selected fitting orfittings, and press sleeve or press sleeves, shall be used todetermine dimensions. Measurements s

38、hall be made in accor-dance with Test Method D2122, except when measuringdiameters of the after pressed sleeves, which shall be measuredperpendicular to the jaw closure plane as shown in Fig. 4 andshall be in accordance with Table 3.7.3.2 Directional Fitting Outlet(s) Angular AlignmentThemaximum ang

39、ular variation of any molded outlet shall notexceed 1 off the true centerline axis of any adjacent outlet.7.4 Factory Assembled Press SleevesStainless steel presssleeves shall be assembled by the fitting manufacturer. Fittingdesign shall allow for either permanently attached (non-removable) press sl

40、eeves or snap-in-place (removable) presssleeves.7.5 Pressing Tool Locating FeatureThe fitting designshall provide a lateral positioning feature for the pressing toolin order to accurately locate the tools pressing profile over thepress sleeve to align the press bands directly over the centerlineof t

41、heir respective primary sealing barb groups. After pressing,the resulting pressing bands shall be centered over each of theirrespective primary sealing barb groups within the allowedoffset dimension “M” given in Table 3. See Fig. 3.7.5.1 Pressing Profile Location and AlignmentCompliance with 7.5 wil

42、l require either machining a cross-section of a completed press assembly and taking directmeasurements or by taking depth measurements from the frontface of the press sleeve to the end of the insert barb and to themiddle of each pressing band width (PBW). See Fig. 3.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appea

43、rance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. The fitting walls shall be free ofcracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or otherdefects that are visible to the unaided eye and that affect thewall integrity.8.2 The molded insert shall be free of

44、flash.8.3 Flash, mismatch, and witness mark requirements for theinsert shall be in accordance with 6.3, 6.4, and 7.3.8.4 Stainless steel press sleeves finish and appearance shallbe of bright polished appearance and void of anydiscolorations, visible seams, dents, nicks, or scratches.9. Assembly9.1 P
