31、tectiveequipmentandensure thatitisnotpossibleforcorrectlyconnectedpersonalprotectiveequipmenttobecomedetachedunintentionally. ParticularattentionshallbegiventotheprofileofPPEattachmentpoints,toensurethattheyarecompatiblewiththose typesofconnectorwithwhichtheyaretobeused. a) Theconnectorshouldbecapab
32、leoffreeandeasyengagementwiththeanchorpointwithouttheneedforthe applicationofforce. b) Whereconnectorsareofthekarabinerorhookvariety(i.e.theypossessaspringloadedgatemechanism,withan automaticormanuallockingfacility),thereshouldbesufficientclearancetoallowthegatemechanismtofully closeandlockafterthec
33、onnectionbetweentheanchorpointandsafetylanyardhasbeenmade. Theclosureofthegatemechanismandlockshouldbephysicallycheckedaftertheconnectionismadetoavoid subsequentandunintentionaldisengagementbetweentheconnectorandanchorpoint. c) Whentheconnectionisfullymadewithakarabinerorhooktypeconnector,theconnect
34、orshouldbe manipulatedwithintheanchorpointtoensurethattheconnectorsintendedbearingsurfacebearsuponthe anchorpointsintendedbearingsurface.Thegatemechanismofthekarabinerorhookshouldnotbearupon theanchorpoint.(SeeFigure7.) d) Whentheconnectionisfullymade,theconnectorshouldbecapableoffreelyaligninginthe
35、directionsthatthe safetylanyardcouldbepulledinasaresultofafallarrestoccurrence,toavoidweakeningtheconnectorin bending. e) Connectorsutilisingalanyardretentioneyeorlanyardretentionpinaretobepreferredinmakingconnections betweenanchorpointsandsafetylanyards,tominimizethepossibilityofrollout,(mechanical
36、and/orISO ISO14567:1999(E) 7 incompatiblecomponentdisengagementbetweentheanchorpoint,connectorandsafetylanyard),whichis capableofoccurringduringafallarrest. f) Safetylanyardsshouldnotbepassedthroughananchorpointandthenconnectedbackonthemselves(i.e. formingalooparoundtheanchorpoint),toavoidweakeningt
37、helanyardandtheconnectorinbending,unless theconnectorandsafetylanyardisdesignedspecificallytobeattachedinsuchamanner. g) Knotsshouldneverbeusedtoconnectsafetylanyardstoanchorpoints; h) OnlyPPEsthatconformtoISO103331,ISO103332,ISO103333andISO103335shallbeattached. 5.1.3 Whereananchordevicecomprisesmo
38、rethanonecomponent,thedesignshallbesuchthatthose componentscannotappeartobecorrectlyassembledwithoutbeingpositivelylockedtogether. 5.1.4 Exposededgesorcornersshallberelievedeitherwitharadiusorchamfer. 5.1.5 Allmetallicpartsofanchordevicesshallbecapableofsatisfyingthecorrosiontestspecifiedin6.3.3. 5.
39、1.6 Whererelevant,anchordevicesshallbesodesignedthat,wheninstalled,thereareadequatebearing surfacestominimizebendingthatwouldhaveadetrimentaleffectontheabilitytosafelyarrestafallingbodyunless theanchordeviceisdesignedspecificallytodeformatbending(e.g.classA1anchors;seeFigures2and8). 5.1.7 Stressrais
40、ingfeaturesshallbeavoidedby: a) theprovisionofasuitableradiusbetweenthecollarandshankofaneyebolt; b) ensuringthattherunoutofmalethreadswhichareintendedtobeloadedinshearorbendingisasufficient distancefromthebearingsurfacetoensurethattheshearloadisbornebytheunthreadedportionoftheshank. 5.1.8 Whereanch
41、ordevices,componentsorelementsutilizemaleandfemalethreads,thereshallbeadequate engagementbetweenmaleandfemalethread.SeeFigures2and9. 5.1.9 Throughtypeanchordevicesshallutilizeabackplateofsufficientsurfaceareaandthicknesstoensurethat theloadisadequatelydistributed.SeeFigure9. 5.1.10 Whereanchordevice
