3、f national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. In

4、ternational organizations, govern- mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0 col- laborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all mat- ters of electrotechnical standardization. Draft International Standards adopted by the tech

5、nical committees are circulated to the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by the IS0 Council. They are approved in accordance with IS0 procedures requiring at least 75 % approval by the member bodies voting. International Standard IS0 8421-5 was prepared by

6、 Technical Committee ISO/TC 21, Equipment for fire protection . 15、 lateral flow of smoke and combustion gases. (Known as “smoke/draft curtains” in the USA.) 5.10 smoke venting : Measures taken to remove smoke and hot gases from a building. 5.17 smoke extraction system: System consisting of smoke outlet, smoke extractor, switch, etc, permanently installed in a buil

16、ding for the purpose of smoke venting. 5.18 smoke exhaust fan : Fan used to remove smoke and hot gases in the event of fire. It may be either mobile (generally brought by the fire brigade) or fixed (within the building). 5.19 smoke layering : Stratification of smoke within a room or space caused by

17、thermal effects in the absence of tur- bulence. 5.20 smoke vent: Opening in the enclosing walls or roof of a building, intended to release heat and smoke in the event of fire, automatically and/or manually opened. NOTE - In French, there are separate terms for a wall and roof opening. 5.21 smoke sha
