15、SO/TR12960:1998(E) v Introduction Innearlyallapplicationsgeotextilesandgeotextilerelatedproducts(geotextile products)maybeincontactwithaqueoussolutionsofacids,basesordissolved oxygen.Theresistanceofgeotextileproductstothesechemicalsdependsonthe onehandonpolymerformulation,processing,textilestructure
16、andthepresenceof existingdamageandontheotherhandonthecompositionoftheliquidandinsitu conditionssuchastemperature,pressureandthepresenceoffurthermechanical stress. Itisthepurposeofthisprestandardtoprovideamethodofscreening(indextesting) theresistanceofgeotextileproductstotheseacidsandbases. Sinceanin
17、dextestrequiresexposuretimesthatareshortcomparedtotheexpected lifetimesofgeotextileproducts,itisnecessarytoacceleratetheprocess.Thedata obtainablearesuitableforscreeningbutnotforderivingperformancedatasuchas lifetime,unlesssupportedbyfurtherevidence.ISO ISO/TR12960:1998(E) 1 1 Scope Thisstandardspec
18、ifiesmethodsforscreeningtheresistanceofgeotextileproducts toliquidswhilenotsubjectingthemtoexternalmechanicalstress. Thestandardisapplicabletoallgeotextilesandgeotextilerelatedproducts. NOTE:Thisstandardonlyconsidersconditionswherethespecimensare fullyimmersedintheliquids.Thoughoutsidethescopeofthis

23、ontainer,e.g.apneumaticvessel,istobeused,equippedwith: asealinglidorequivalentdeviceandifnecessaryarefluxcondenseror equivalentdevicetorestrictevaporationofvolatilecomponents; astirringorequivalentdevicetomaintainhomogeneityoftheliquidand theexchangeofmatterbetweentheliquidandthespecimens; specimenh
24、olderstoensurecorrectplacingofthespecimens(see 4.6.2),thefreedistancebetweenspecimensbeingatleast10mm; atleastoneclosableapertureinthelidforaccesstocontrolthe compositionoftheliquid.ISO/TR12960:1998(E) ISO 2 Thecontainershallbelargeenoughforthetestliquid(see4.6.1),whichshallbe heldatconstanttemperat
25、ure(see4.3). Thematerialofthecontainerandequipmentshallberesistanttothetestchemicals. Suchmaterialsareingeneralborosilicateglassorstainlesssteel. 4.2 Testliquids Twotypesoftestliquidsaretobeused: aninorganicacid:0,025Msulfuricacid(methodA); aninorganicbase:calciumhydroxide(Ca(OH)2),usedasasaturated
26、suspension,i.e.approximately2,5gramsperlitre(methodB). Chemicalsofreagentoranalyticalgradeshouldbeused.Watershallcomplywith ISO3696,grade3. Nationalsafetyregulationsforhandlingofchemicalsandfordisposaloftestliquids shallbefollowed. NOTE:Foranytestmediumitisanimportantconditionthatits compositionrema
27、insconstantduringthetestexposure.Thismaybe complicatediftheconcentrationofanyactivecomponentisloworifthe liquidisnotastableonephasesystem.Insuchcasestheconcentration shouldbemonitoredandifpossibleadjustedorreplacedonaregular basis.Attentionshouldbegivenalsotopossiblecatalyticorsynergistic effects,in
28、cludingeffectsofsimultaneouschemicalandmechanical stresses(egenvironmentalstresscrackinginpolyolefins).Thechoiceof theconcentrationoftheactivespeciesisgovernedbytheaimtoavoid significantchangesoftheconcentrationduringthetestandtoaccelerate thereactionbuttoavoidachangeintheactivemechanismbyusingtoo h
29、ighaconcentration. 4.3 Testtemperatures Thetesttemperatureshallbe(601)Cforeachmethod. 4.4 Testduration Thetestdurationshallbe3daysforeachmethod. 4.5 Specimens ReferenceismadetoENV12226. Thenumberofspecimensshallbefivetestspecimensandfivecontrolspecimens. NOTE1:Itisrecommendedthatadditionalspecimensb
30、eexposed.Ifa mechanicaltestisinvalid,afurtherspecimenshouldbetestedinits place.ISO ISO/TR12960:1998(E) 3 NOTE2:Iftheproductsaresheathedbysomecoating,whichcouldbe penetratedduringinstallation,theproductshouldbetestedwithand withoutthecoating.Ifnot,thepossibilityofachangeinchemical resistanceincaseofd
31、estructionordamagetothesheathshouldbe notedinthereport. 4.6 Procedure 4.6.1 Quantityofthetestliquid Thequantityoftestliquidshallbegreaterthan30timestheweightofthespecimens andshallcoverthespecimenscompletely. 4.6.2 Positioningofspecimens Thespecimensshallbeplacedinthevesselfreeofanysignificantmechan
32、ical stress. Themeandistancebetweenthespecimens,betweenthespecimensandthewalls ofthevessel,andbetweenthespecimensandthesurfaceoftheliquid,shallbeat least1cm.Nosignificantproportionofthesurfaceofthespecimensshallmake contactwithamaterialotherthanthetestliquiditself. Specimensofdifferentmaterialsshall
33、notbetestedinthesamevessel.Duringthe testtheexchangeofmatterbetweenliquidandgeotextileshallnotbehinderedby poorconvectionofthetestliquid. Calciumhydroxideshallbestirredcontinuously;sulfuricacidatleastonceperday. ThepHoftheliquidshallbemeasuredandrecordedand,wherenecessary,liquid shallbereplenishedor
34、replacedtomaintaintheoriginalpHatleasteveryseventh day.Theliquidandthespecimensshallbeshieldedfromlight. 4.6.3 Controlspecimens Thecontrolspecimensshallbeimmersedforonehourinwateratthesame temperatureasthetestspecimens.WatershallbeinaccordancewithSection4.2. 4.6.4 Rinsing,wipinganddrying Rinsingshal
35、lbeperformedinwatercomplyingwith4.2.,thenin0.01Msodium carbonatesolution,finallyinwateragain.Thequantitiesshallbesufficienttoensure thoroughcleaning. Inexposingpolyestergeotextilestocalciumhydroxideitisnecessarytoremove adheringcrystalsofcalciumterephthalate.Thismaybedonebyrinsingfor5min witha10%sol
36、ution(byweight)oftrisodiumnitrilotriacetate(NTA)inanagitating device,followedbyrinsingina3%solution(byweight)ofaceticacidandfinally rinsingwithwater.ISO/TR12960:1998(E) ISO 4 Specimensshallbedriedatroomtemperatureoratelevatedtemperatureupto 60C.Specimensshouldnotbesubjectedtounduestressduringdrying.
