8、Ordering Information3.1 Material supplied to this material specification shallconform to Specification A20/A20M. These requirements out-line the testing and retesting methods and procedures, permit-ted variations in dimensions, and mass, quality and repair ofdefects, marking, loading, and ordering i

9、nformation.3.2 In addition to the basic requirements of thisspecification, certain supplementary requirements are availablewhen additional control, testing, or examination is required tomeet end use requirements. The purchaser is referred to thelisted supplementary requirements in this specification

10、 and tothe detailed requirements in Specification A20/A20M.3.3 Coils are excluded from qualification to this specifica-tion until they are processed into finished plates. Platesproduced from coil means plates that have been cut toindividual lengths from coil. The processor directly controls, oris re

11、sponsible for, the operations involved in the processing ofcoils into finished plates. Such operations include decoiling,leveling, cutting to length, testing, inspection, conditioning,heat treatment (if applicable), packaging, marking, loading forshipment, and certification.NOTE 1For plates produced

12、 from coil and furnished without heattreatment or with stress relieving only, three test results are reported foreach qualifying coil. Additional requirements regarding plates from coilare described in Specification A20/A20M.3.4 If the requirements of this specification are in conflictwith the requi

Materials and Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andshall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement ofSpecification A

18、20/A20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 Grade D plates of all thicknesses and Grade C plates ofthicknesses over 2 in. 50 mm shall be normalized.5.2 Grade C plates 2 in. 50 mm and under in thickness areusually supplied in the as-rolled condition. The plates may beordered normalized or stress-relieved, or both.6

Chemical Composition6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsgiven in Table 1, unless otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A20/A20M.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 Tension TestThe plates, as represented by th

20、e tensiontest specimens, shall conform to the requirements given inTable 2.7.2 For plates with a nominal thickness of34 in. 20 mmand under, the 112-in. 40-mm wide rectangular specimen maybe used and the elongation determined in a 2-in. 50-mm gagelength that includes the fracture and that shows the g
