Scope*1.1 This specification covers unsintered, pigmented, ex-truded films or tapes manufactured frompolytetrafluoroeth

3、ylene, in nominal thicknesses from 0.025mm (0.001 in.) to 0.51 mm (0.020 in.), which are 99 % virginPTFE in composition prior to introducing pigments.NOTE 1For unsintered non-pigmented products refer to SpecificationD6585.1.1.1 The use of recycled PTFE for production of unsinteredextruded films or t

Classification4.1 This specification covers three types of unsintered,pigmented, extruded PTFE tapes:

20、4.1.1 Type IThread Seal Tape (TST) with an apparentdensity of 0.50-1.60 g/cm3.4.1.2 Type IILow Density Tape with an apparent densityof 0.60-0.80 g/cm3.4.1.3 Type IIIWire and Cable Tape with an apparentdensity of 1.40-1.65 g/cm3.NOTE 4Other products that do not fall into these density ranges areavail

The values vary on these products and must be agreed tobetween supplier and purchaser.4.2 Grades of tape are identified in Tables 1-3.NOTE 5Other products that do not fall into these ranges are available.4.3 A line callout system is used to specify materials in thisspecification. Acomma is used as the separator between the standard numberand the type. Separators are not needed be

24、tween the type andgrade because they are, in turn, Roman numerals and Arabicdigits as provided in Section B8. of the Form & Style for ASTMStandards,April 2004 Edition. Provision for “Special Notes” isincluded so that other information can be provided whenrequired. This example relates to wire and ca

25、ble tape with theadded requirement that it be royal blue in color. When specialnotes are used, they shall be preceded by a comma.5. Performance Requirements5.1 Basic requirements from the property tables are alwaysin effect unless superseded by specific suffix requirements,which always take preceden

26、ce.5.2 The materials shall conform to the requirements inTables 1-4 and suffix requirements as they apply.5.3 The dielectric breakdown strength of unsintered samplesshall be tested in accordance with Test Method D149. Therequired values are to be agreed upon between producer andconsumer.5.4 If invok

27、ed by contract, or to gain understanding of theelectrical performance consistency of a particular materialdielectric constant and volume resistivity shall be tested inaccordance with Test Methods D150 and D257, as seen in theguidelines found in Guide D6040.5.5 The width tolerance of slit tape shall

28、be in accordancewith Table 4 unless otherwise specified by contract.6. Sampling6.1 Sampling shall be in accordance with an adequatestatistical sampling procedure.7. Conditioning7.1 For those tests where conditioning is required, conditionthe test specimens in accordance with Procedure A of PracticeD

29、618, except the time shall be for a period of at least 4 h priorto test instead of the 40 h required by this method. If the testmaterial has been exposed to temperatures below 20C (68F)within a 24 h period prior to test, the conditioning shall be atleast 24 h.7.2 Conduct tests at the standard labora

30、tory temperature of23 6 2C (73.4 6 3F). The maintenance of constant humidityis not necessary. In reference cases, the standard atmosphereand 50 6 5 % relative humidity shall apply.8. Test Methods8.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with test methods re

The average result of the specimens shallconform to the requirements of this specification.9. Inspection and Certification9.1 Inspection and certification of the material supplied withrefe

34、rence to a specification based on this classification systemshall be for conformance to the requirements specified herein.9.2 Lot-acceptance inspection shall be the basis on whichacceptance or rejection of the lot is made.9.3 Periodic check inspection with reference to a specifica-tion based upon th

35、is classification system shall consist of thetests for all requirements of the material under the specifica-tion. Inspection frequency shall be adequate to ensure thematerial is certifiable in accordance with 9.4.9.4 Certification shall be that the material was manufacturedby a process in statistica

36、l control, sampled, tested, and in-spected in accordance with this classification system, and thatthe average values for the lot meet the requirements of thespecification.9.5 A report of test results shall be furnished when re-quested. The report shall consist of results of the lot-acceptanceinspect

37、ion for the shipment and the results of the most recentperiodic-check inspection.10. Packaging and Package Marking10.1 PackagingThe materials shall be packaged in stan-dard commercial containers constructed so as to ensure accep-tance by common carrier unless otherwise specified in thecontract or or
