3、in August 2017.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements and test methodsfor corrugated double and triple wall polypropylene pipe andfittings. The nominal inside diameters covered are 6 to 60 in.150 to 1500 mm.1.2 The requirements of this specification are intended toprovide pipe and fitti
4、ngs for underground use for non-pressuresanitary sewer systems. Pipe and fittings produced in accor-dance with this specification shall be installed in compliancewith Practice D2321.1.3 This specification covers pipe and fittings with anannular corrugated wall and an essentially smooth interior wall
5、(that is, double wall) (Fig. 1) and pipe and fittings with anannular corrugated wall and an essentially smooth interior andexterior wall (that is, triple wall) (Fig. 2).1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach sys
6、tem may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Materials and Manufacture5.1 Pipe and
26、 Fabricated FittingsPolypropylene Com-pounds Polypropylene compounds used in the manufactureof the pipe and fittings shall have the minimum properties asshown in Table 1. Polypropylene compounds shall be com-prised of the base polypropylene virgin resin and all additives,colorants, UV inhibitors and
27、 stabilizers. Conditioningsampling, preparation, and testing of molded specimens shallbe in accordance with the requirements in Specification D4101.For slow crack-growth resistance of the pipe corrugation, andinner and exterior walls, PP compounds shall be evaluatedusing the notched constant ligamen
28、t stress (NCLS) test accord-ing to the procedure described in 7.7.1. The average failuretime of the five test specimens shall exceed 100 h with nosingle test specimens failure time less than 71 h. Compoundsshall be tested and validated on an annual basis or for any newformulations. The minimum long-

Black polypro-pylene compounds shall have between 2.0 and 3.0 percentcarbon black when tested in accordance with the pro
32、cedures inTest Method D4218. Colored polypropylene compounds shallbe protected from Ultraviolet (UV) degradation with UVstabilizers.5.3 Rework PlasticClean polypropylene rework plastic,generated from the manufacturers own production of theproduct and having the same minimum physical properties,may b
33、e used by the manufacturer, provided that the pipeproduced meets all the requirements of this specification.5.4 Elastomeric Seal MaterialsElastomeric compoundsand thermoplastic elastomeric compounds used in the manu-facture of sealing rings or gaskets shall meet the requirementsof Specification F477
34、.5.5 LubricantThe lubricant used for assembly of gasketedjoints shall have no detrimental effect of the gasket or on thepipe.5.6 Optional Bell Retaining Bands or External WrapsMonolithically formed bands or stiffening wraps in or on theexternal wall of the bell, when used, shall provide tensilerestr
35、aint to bell expansion due to gasket insertion or internalhydrostatic pressure in accordance with 6.6.4. These bandsshall be made of corrosion resistant materials such as fiberglass(Specification D578/D578M) or stainless steel (SpecificationA666). All metallic mechanical devices, including castings
36、andbolt assemblies used to mechanically restrain the bell shall beconstructed of corrosion resistant stainless steel materialsmeeting the physical properties and chemical compositionrequirements of A666, Type 302 through Type 316.5.6.1 The D578/D578M fiberglass roving or chopped strandshall be an E
37、or S type glass, free of any alkali, dirt or otherimpurities. The band shall consist of overlapping continuous orchopped filament fiber strand and not a fabric.NOTE 1Compound and material properties are typically tested tovalidate a formulation; they are not routine quality assurance tests. Usersreq
38、uiring such testing for quality assurance purposes should insert thesecriteria in their project specifications.6. General Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be homoge-neous throughout and be as uniform as commercially practicalin color, opacity, and density. The pipe walls shall
39、be free ofcracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or otherdefects that are visible to the naked eye and that may affect thewall integrity. The ends shall be cut cleanly and squarelythrough valleys.6.1.1 Visible defects, cracks, creases, splits, in pipe are notpermissible.6.2 Dimensions a
40、nd Tolerance:6.2.1 Nominal SizeThe nominal size for the pipe andfittings shall be the inside diameter shown in Table 2.6.2.2 Minimum Inside DiameterThe minimum inside di-ameter shall be as shown in Table 2, when measured inaccordance with section 7.3.3. In no case shall the manufac-turers stated ins
41、ide diameter minus the tolerance in Table 2 beless than the required minimum inside diameter.NOTE 2The manufacturers stated inside diameter is the nominaldiameter plus or minus the inside diameter tolerances. The minimuminside diameter is the smallest diameter the pipe can be with thesetolerances an
42、d is used for the hydraulic design of the pipe.NOTE 3The outside diameters and the corrugation pitch of productsmanufactured to this specification are not specified; therefore, compatibil-ity between pipe and fittings made to this specification from differentmanufacturers should be verified.6.2.3 La
43、ying LengthThe pipe shall be supplied in anylaying length agreeable to both the owner and the manufac-turer. Laying length shall not be less than 99 % of statedquantity when measured in accordance with 7.3.2.6.2.4 Minimum Wall, Crest, Valley and Liner ThicknessThe minimum thickness of pipe sections
