、Designation: A737/A737M 17Standard Specification forPressure Vessel Plates, High-Strength, Low-Alloy Steel1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A737/A737M; the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of
、last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification2covers high-strength low-alloy steelplates for service in welded pressure vessels and pipingcompon
、ents.1.2 This material is particularly intended for piping andpressure vessel applications where high strength and improvedtoughness are required.1.3 Two grades, designated B and C, are covered by thisspecification. Grade B provides a minimum yield strength of50 ksi 345 MPa. Grade C provides a minim
、um yield strengthof 60 ksi 415 MPa.1.4 The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by thecapacity of the chemical composition and heat treatment tomeet the specified mechanical property requirements; however, current practice normally limits the maximum thickness to 4 in.100 mm for each grade.1.5
、 Grade C in the as-rolled condition is sensitive tocracking during flame cutting, transit, and handling, particu-larly in thicknesses over 2 in. 50 mm. Plates should not beshipped in the as-rolled condition only except by mutualagreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser.1.6 The values stat
、ed in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may r
