Scope*1.1 This specification2covers 7, 8, and 9 % nickel alloysteel plates for use in the water quenche

3、d and temperedcondition intended for the fabrication of welded pressurevessels.1.2 Material under this specification is available in threetypes having different chemical composition as follows:Type Nominal Nickel Content, %I9II 8III 71.3 Plates produced under this specification are subject toimpact

4、testing at 320F 195C for Type I or Type III, and275F 170C for Type II; or at such other temperatures asare agreed upon.1.4 The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by thecapacity of the material to meet the specified mechanicalproperty requirements; however, current mill practice normallylimi

5、ts this material to 2 in. 50 mm max.1.5 This material is susceptible to magnetization. Use ofmagnets in handling after heat treatment should be avoided ifresidual magnetism would be detrimental to subsequent fabri-cation or service.1.6 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to b

6、e regarded separately as standard. Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andshall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement ofSpecification A20/A20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 A

18、ll plates shall be heat treated in accordance with 5.2.Shell plates and other parts, including heads and reinforcingpads, which are heated for forming, shall be heat treated afterforming in accordance with 5.2.5.2 Heat Treatment ProcedureHeat treat all plates byheating to a suitable temperature with

19、in the range from 1475 to1700F 800 to 925C, holding for a sufficient time to obtainuniform temperature throughout the plate thickness and thenquenching in water. Subsequently, temper the plates within therange from 1050 to 1175F 565 to 635C for Type I and TypeII, or from 1000 to 1125F 540 to 615C fo

20、r Type III, holdingat this temperature for a minimum of 30 min/in. 1.2 min/mmof thickness but not less than 15 min, and cool in air or waterquench at a rate not less than 300F/h 165C/h.5.2.1 HardeningThe plates shall be heated to a tempera-ture within the range from 1475 to 1700F 800 to 925C, heldat

21、 that temperature for a sufficient time to obtain uniformtemperature throughout the plate thickness, and then quenchedin a liquid media.5.2.2 TemperingThe plates shall be tempered at a tem-perature within the range from 1050 to 1175F 565 to 635Cfor Type I and Type II, or from 1000 to 1125F 540 to 61

22、5Cfor Type III; being held at that temperature for a minimum of30 min/in. 1.2 min/mm of thickness, but in no case less than15 min, and then cooled in air or liquid-quenched at a rate notless than 300F/h 165C/h.5.2.2.1 Prior to the tempering treatment, the plates may besubjected to an intermediate he

23、at treatment consisting ofheating to a temperature in the range from 1165 to 1290F 630to 700C for Type I, or 1185 to 1310F 640 to 710C forType II, or 1205 to 1330F 650 to 720C for Type III; holdingat that temperature for a suitable time, but in no case less than15 min, and then water-quenching to be

24、low 300F 150C inthe case of plate thicknesses of more than58 in. 16 mm orcooling in air or water-quenching to below 300F 150C inthe case of plate thicknesses of58 in. 16 mm and under.NOTE 1The intermediate heat treatment is for the purpose ofenhancing elongation and notch-toughness and for reducing

25、susceptibilityto strain-aging embrittlement and temper embrittlement. It may beperformed at the option of the material manufacturer or may be specifiedby the purchaser.6. Chemical Requirements6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accord

26、ance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A20/A20M.7. Mechanical Requirements7.1 Tension Test RequirementsThe material as representedby tension-test specimens shall conform to the requirementsspecified in Table 2.7.1.1 Upon agreement between the purchase

27、r and themanufacturer, yield strength may be determined by the exten-sion under load method, using 0.005 in./in. mm/mm totalextension.7.1.2 For nominal plate thicknesses of34 in. 20 mm andunder, the 112 in. 40 mm wide rectangular specimen may beused for the tension test and the elongation may be det

28、erminedin a 2 in. 50 mm gage length that includes the fracture andshows the greatest elongation.7.2 Impact Test Requirements:7.2.1 Charpy V-notch impact tests shall be made in accor-dance with Specification A20/A20M.7.2.2 The longitudinal axis of the test specimens shall betransverse to the final ro
