Terminology3.1 For definitions of terms related to copper and copperalloys, see Terminology B846.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 lengths, mill,

24、 nstraight lengths, including ends, thatcan be conveniently manufactured in the mills. Full-lengthpieces are usually 8, 10, or 12 ft and subject to establishedlength tolerances.3.2.2 lengths, stock, nstraight lengths that are mill cut andstored in advance of orders. They are usually 8, 10, or 12 ft

25、andsubject to established length tolerances.3.2.3 rolled bar, na rolled flat product over 0.188 in. thickand up to and including 12 in. wide, with sheared, sawed, ormachined edges, in straight lengths or coils (rolls).4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 Materials:4.1.1 The material of manufacture shall

26、be a cast bar, cake,or slab of such purity and soundness as to be suitable forprocessing into the products to the product specification listedin Section 1.4.1.2 When specified in the contract or purchase order thatheat identification or traceability is required, the purchasershall specify the detail

27、s desired.4.2 Manufacture:4.2.1 The product shall be manufactured by such hot-working, cold-working and annealing processes as to producea uniform wrought structure in the finished product.4.2.2 The product shall be hot- or cold-worked to thefinished size and subsequently annealed, when required, to

28、meet the temper properties specified.4.3 EdgesThe edges shall be slit, sheared, sawed, or rollededges, as specified. Slit edges shall be furnished unlessotherwise specified in the contract or purchase order. See 5.6for edge descriptions and corresponding tables for tolerances.5. Dimensions, Weights,

29、 and Permissible Variations5.1 GeneralFor the purpose of determining conformancewith the dimensional requirements prescribed in thisspecification, any measured value outside the specified limitingvalues for any dimension may be cause for rejection.NOTE 1Blank spaces in the tolerance tables indicate

30、either that thematerial is not available or that no tolerances have been established.5.2 ThicknessThe standard method of specifying thick-ness shall be in decimal fractions of an inch. For material0.021 in. and under in thickness, it is recommended that thenominal thicknesses be stated not closer th

31、an the nearesthalf-thousandth. (For example, specify 0.006 or 0.0065 in., butnot 0.0063 in.) For material over 0.021 in. in thickness, it isrecommended that the nominal thicknesses be stated not closerthan the nearest thousandth. (For example, specify 0.128 or0.129 in., but not 0.1285 in.) A list of

32、 preferred thicknesses isshown in Appendix X1.
