7、material heat-treated to a tensile strength of 100/120 kgf/mm 2 . (980/1 180 MN/in 2 : 98/118 hbar). NOTE 2 Sheet and strip of the same composition for use at a higher strength level are covered by the latest edition of BS S 533. 1 Inspection and testing procedure 1.1 This British Standard shall be

8、used in conjunction with the relevant sections of the latest edition of BS S 500. 1.2 The thickness of the material shall be in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. Material which has been finally hot rolled prior to heat treatment shall satisfy the tolerances applicable to hot-rolled she

9、et and strip. Material which has been finally cold rolled prior to heat treatment shall satisfy the tolerances applicable to cold-rolled sheet and strip. 1.3 Sulphur printing or deep etching tests. Samples shall be selected in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 2 Process of manufacture

10、The material shall be manufactured by an electric process unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The material shall be overall dressed in accordance with

11、the requirements of the latest edition of BS S 500. 5 Condition 5.1 The material shall be supplied in the solution treated and descaled condition. 5.2 Finished parts shall be supplied finally heat treated. Heat at a temperature within the range 1 000 C to 1 075 C. The time at temperature shall be adequate to ensure that after cooling

13、in air, the mechanical property requirements of 7.1 are achieved and that those of 7.2 are achieved in the finally heat treated condition. 6.2 Final heat treatment. The final heat treatment of solution treated material shall be: 1) Precipitation treatment: 1st stage. Heat at a temperature of 750 10

14、C for 2 hours to 4 hours and cool in air. 2) Precipitation treatment: 2nd stage. Cool to a temperature of 0 5 C and hold for not less than 2 hours. 3) Precipitation treatment: final stage. Heat at a temperature of 540 10 C for “ hour to 1 hour and cool in air. 7 Mechanical properties The mechanical

15、properties obtained from test pieces selected and prepared in accordance with the relevant requirements of the latest edition of BS S 500 shall comply with the following. 7.1 Tests in the solution treated condition 1) Hardness test. The hardness shall be not more than 285 HB or 300 HV. 2) Single ben

16、d test. The test piece shall be bent without cracking through an angle of 180 over a former with a radius equal to one and a half times the nominal thickness of the sheet or strip. 7.2 Tests in the finally heat treated condition 1) Tensile test. 2) Hardness test. The hardness of the finally heat tre

17、ated parts shall be: 293 min./363 max. HB; or 310 min./380 max.
