This will be indicated in the amendment table on theinside front cover.BSQC 221100:1997 BSI 11-1998 1 1 Scope This standard concerns r.f. coaxial connectors for use with semi-rigid and flexible r.f. cables and specially intended to be used for microwa

14、ve applications requiring high performance. This type of connector is known commercially as the SMA connector. 2 IEC type designation Connectors conforming to this standard shall be designated by: a) the reference to this standard: 169-15 IEC; b) the number of the grade 1) : c) a group of figures sp

15、ecifying the climatic category (see Clause 4). Example 169-15 IEC-G1 (40/85/21) denotes a connector with mating face as specified in Clause 5 of this standard belonging to climatic category 40/85/21. NOTEIn the present standard, Grade 2 is under consideration. Deviating from normal practice, the dim

16、ensions and tolerances are specified for Grade 1 connector (see Clause 5). Dimensions and tolerances of the Grade 0 connector are specified in Sub-clause 6.2. 3 Ratings The r.f. connectors defined in this standard are designed for use with a variety of flexible and semi-rigid coaxial cables and rigi

17、d coaxial lines and Grade 1 will not introduce a reflection factor greater than 0.1 at frequencies up to 24 GHz under optimum conditions. NOTE“Under optimum conditions” means that all circumstances are the best possible, for instance straight connector, mounting to a rigid or semi-rigid line, carefu

18、l manufacturing. Bearing in mind the design concept of the connector, the reflection factor specified under the optimum conditions should be achievable in practice, the percentage of connectors from any production batch failing to obtain the specified performance being reasonably low. The following

19、limits for coupling torque are recommended: minimum: 0.791 Nm; maximum: 1.130 Nm. Working voltage: Current: 0.25 A d.c. maximum. 4 Preferred climatic categories (see IEC Publication 68: Basic Environmental Testing Procedures) NOTESelect climatic category to suit cable used. Grade 0 = standard test c

20、onnector = G0; Grade 1 = high performance connector = G1; Grade 2 = general purpose connector = G2; 1) General definitions of grades: Standard test connector, Grade 0 A precisely made connector of a particular type used to carry out reflection factor measurements on Grade 1 and Grade 2 connectors, c

21、ontributing only negligible errors to the measuring result. The dimensions and tolerances are specified in the relevant specification. High performance connector, Grade 1 A connector for which limits of reflection factor are specified as a function of frequency in the relevant specification. No tigh

22、ter dimensional tolerances than those applicable to Grade 2 are normally specified. The manufacturer is responsible, however, for choosing tighter tolerances where necessary to ensure that the reflection factor requirements are met. General purpose connector, Grade 2 A connector making use of the wi

23、dest permitted deviations (tolerances) so as to still guarantee good performance and intermateability.
