12、 the following definitions apply : 3.1 Batch A production unit of material produced by the conversion of a number of precursor tows under controlled processing conditions in one continuous operation including any surface treatment and sizing of the fibre. 3.2 Elementary unit The smallest commerciall

15、inal diameter the cross section of which is not necessarily circular. 3.4 Size A substance added to the filament yarn to improve the handling characteristics and/or to promote the adhesion of a matrix material to the surface of the fibre. 3.5 Specimen A defined quantity of material on which measurem
16、ent is performed. 3.6 Surface treatment An electrochemical treatment to promote the adhesion of a polymer matrix to the surface of the fibre. 3.7 Linear density The mass per unit length of a yarn. 3.8 Density The mass per unit volume of a yarn. 4 Requirements 4.1 Composition The carbon fibre filamen
17、t yarn shall be made from a precursor fibre based on a polymer or copolymer of acrylonitrile. 4.2 Appearance The carbon fibre filament yarn shall be uniform in texture and shall be free from surface contaminants. The carbon fibre filament yarn shall not contain a level of physical defects which impa
18、irs its use. 4.3 Splices Each bobbin shall contain a continuous length of yarn with no splices. NOTE : If splices are unavoidable, the maximum number of splices per bobbin and the method of splicing shall be agreed between manufacturer and purchaser. Any splices shall be of sufficient strength for t
19、he requirement of the purchaser. 4.4 Surface treatment 4.4.1 When specified in the material standard the surface treatment shall be uniform from batch to batch. 4.4.2 The processing and control for the surface treatment shall be documented in the manufacturing schedule (see 5.3). 4.5 Finish 4.5.1 Th

21、uirements specified in the material standard. The size content shall be determined in accordance with IS0 10548 and shall comply with 4.5.3 schedule (see 5.3). The type of size and the process for its application shall be documented in the manufacturing 4.5.4 The size shall conform to a reference in
22、fra-red spectrum established between the manufacturer and the mandated body at the time of qualification (5.2). 4.6 Oxidation resistance The resistance of the carbon fibre filament yarn to oxidation shall be determined in accordance with ASTM D 4102 and shall comply with the requirements of the mate
23、rial standard. 4.7 The linear density shall be determined in accordance with IS0 10120 and shall comply with the requirements of the material standard. Linear density (mass per unit length) 4.8 Density The density shall be determined in accordance with IS0 101 19 and shall comply with the requiremen
24、ts of the material standard. 4.9 Filament diameter and shape The diameter and shape of the cross section for the fibre yarn shall be determined in accordance with IS0 1 1567 and shall comply with the requirements of the material standard. 4.1 O Tensile properties The tensile strength, modulus and el
25、ongation of the fibre at break shall be determined in accordance with IS0 10618 and shall comply with the requirements of the material standard. 4.1 1 Twist 4.1 1 .I The yarn may be supplied with or without twist in accordance with the material standard. 4.11.2 When a definite level of twist is requ
26、ired the yarn shall be tested in accordance with IS0 1890 ; the sense of the twist and the nominal number of turns, per metre, shall comply with the requirements specified in the material standard. 4.12 Interlaminar shear strength The interlaminar shear strength shall be determined in accordance wit
27、h EN 2563 and shall comply with the requirements of the material standard. The test specimens shall be prepared in accordance with EN 2563 from a laminate manufactured in accordance with EN 41 77-1. 5 Quality assurance 5.1 Manufacturer approval Procedures for manufacturer approval shall be in accord
28、ance with EN 2000. 29、having regard for the provisions of EN 3042, shall document the processing conditions and control for the manufacture of the yarn. The manufacturing schedule shall be validated by the mandated body designated by AECMA-CERT. 5.4 Test requirements 5.4.1 The manufacturer having regard for the provision
30、s of EN 3042 shall implement a test programme, under the supervision of the mandated body designated by AECMA-CERT, on a minimum of three production batches of yarn. 5.4.2 The test programme shall include a statistical sampling plan (see 7) for each batch of yarn. 5.4.3 with the requirements given i
31、n table 1 - column 5. The elementary unit from each batch of yarn shall be inspected and tested in accordance 5.4.4 Each of the three production batches submitted for qualification shall comply with the property requirements and associated AQLs designated in the material standard. 6 Acceptance 6.1 M
32、anufacturing responsibility The manufacturer shall be responsible for the implementation of a statistical sampling plan and the relevant procedures for the inspection and test requirements as specified in 6.3 and 7 respectively. 6.2 Product acceptance 6.2.1 the associated AQLs designated in the mate
33、rial standard. Acceptability of a batch shall be determined in accordance with the sampling plan (see 7) and 6.2.2 specification and the material standard. Each batch of material released by the manufacturer shall be deemed to comply with this 6.3 Inspection and test requirements Each elementary uni
34、t shall be inspected and tested in accordance with the requirements of table 1 - column 6. 7 Sampling plan 7.1 the material standard. The elementary unit for inspection purposes shall be a bobbin of nominal mass as specified in 7.2 The sampling plan shall be in accordance with either a) IS0 2859-1 -
35、 Inspection level 2 b) IS0 3951 - (3 method or - Inspection level 2. 36、and storage. Individual bobbins shall be packed in sealed polyethylene or equivalent bags to protect this 8.2 yarn in its proper condition. All bobbins shall be packed in suitable containers for shipping and delivery to maintain the 9 Marking NOTE : Attention is drawn to statutory regulations relati
37、ng to the marking of containers. 9.1 Each bobbin shall be clearly marked with a label on the inside of the core with the following : - product description ; - manufacturers name and product designation ; - batch and spool number ; - type of finish or treatment ; - net weight. 9.2 Each package shall
38、be permanently and legibly marked with the following - product description ; - manufacturers name product designation ; - manufacturers batch number. 1 O Certificate of conformity Each batch of material shall be accompanied by a certificate of conformity relative to the appropriate material standard
