25、Requirements Number of parent plates to be tested 1 4.1 General Requirements See EN 6070 3 to 4 4.2 Technical Requirements 2 4.2.1 General 5 to 6 6 The plate shall satisfy the requirements of the relevant material standard and the related Individual Product Specification (IPS). Unless otherwise spec
26、ified in the relevant material standard or IPS, the test method and test frequency are given in Annex A for qualification testing and in Annex B for release testing. 3 4 Manufacturer must ensure a consistent material as far as structure, chemical composition and strength are concerned. 4.2.1.1 Contr
27、olled stretching Controlled stretched plate shall be largely free from residual stresses to minimize distortion during machining. Straightening and dressing operations following either solution heat treatment or controlled stretching are not permitted. 4.2.1.2 Edges All edges must be free from crack
28、s andlor protruding burrs. 4.2.1.3 Batch size for testing When test frequency refers to batch the following applies: - for 6 mm 12mm: batch size shall be limited to one parent plate. Parent plates shall be te
30、sted at - - - one end for a length of I 2000 mm or one end for a length of 2000 mm in the thickness range 6 mm 2000 mm and thickness of a 25 mm The location of the specimen shall be in accordance with the requirements of table 2. Specimens shall be partially coated with a chemical milling maskant (peel strength (3 to 7) N/2,5 cm2) on one side as shown in figures 2 or 3 and totally on the opposite side. Specimens shall be chemically milled up to a depth of a/2. Thereafter
37、 the following shall be determined: - Surface Roughness The mean roughness values of the chemically milled surface shall be measured with an electric stylus instrument in accordance with IS0 1880. - Edge Quality The notch depth (t) and notch radius R,) of the specimen shall be measured (see figure 4
38、) - a distance b/5 from the edge as given in figure 5. It shall be placed on a measurement plate and only the dead weight of the specimen shall act as contact pressure. The sample, at least 20 mm long in the long transverse
43、 direction, shall be taken from the full thickness and one end of the parent plate. A cross section of the sample perpendicular to the rolling direction shall be prepared as follows: 25 0.5 to 1,0 - mechanical polishing: it is recommended to adequately protect the surfaces in order to obtain sharp e
44、dges (mounting the metallographic sample between two 7075 blocks has proved satisfactory), Distilled (or deionised) water - electropolishing if required. For lower plate thicknesses, it is recommended to only use mechanical polishing to avoid cladding dissolution which would affect the results (abou
45、t 2,5 prn per side would be dissolved during electropolishing). However better resolution for copper diffu- sion is achieved when the cross section is electropolished prior to etching, As required for completion to 100 - etching: carried out by dipping the cross section for 1 O s (determination of c
46、ladding thickness) and additional 20 s (determination of copper diffusion) in the etchant according to table 8, at a temperature between 15C and 30C, - dark surface layer, if present, shall not be removed - rinsing in a stream of cold water - drying after dipping in hot distilled (or deionised) wate
47、r b) Measurement of cladding thickness The cross section shall be examined using an appropriate magnification between IOOX and 500X. Cladding thickness shall be measured on both faces, on at least five locations, at least 3 mm apart from each other. The mean cladding thickness per face shall be dete
48、rmined. c) Measurement of copper diffusion The cross section shall be examined using an appropriate magnification between 1 OOX and 500X. The diffusion front is identified by a change of colour in the cladding from dark to light. It generally consists of a succession of peaks (enhanced diffusion alo
49、ng the grain boundaries) and valleys. Conventionally, the mean position of the diffusion front, for the field under examination shall be taken as the valley bottom closest to the surface of the plate. It distance form the core-cladding interface, b (see figures 6 and 71, shall be measured on that face of the sample with the minimum cladding thick- ness, on five locations, at least 3 mm apart from each
