2、which is canceled. Abstract : This CID covers self-opening dies complete with adjustable and removable dies of such design and construction as to operate on hand turret lathes. Salient Characteristics: 1. Design. The die head and dies shall be new and of the manufacturers commercial design in effect
3、 on the date of the solicitation, and shall meet the requirements specified herein and conform to current industrial practices. 2. Die head. The die head shall accommodate four thread dies and have provisions to securely hold the dies in proper position for threading, and shall be readily and easily
4、 adjustable to obtain proper pitch diameter, and shall be removable to allow die changes. Provisions shall be made to automatically open the dies at a predetermined length of thread. A manually operated device for opening the dies by hand shall also be provided. The length and diameter of the die he
5、ad shank, and the maximum outside diameter of the die head, shall be as specified in the contract. Dies shall be capable of threading to within one thread from a sh
7、oulder without seriously marring the face of the shoulder. Dies shall be suitably hardened and tempered to cut consistent, smooth, well-defined NPT, ANPT or straight threads in the sizes and material as specified in the contract. 4. Cet. One cet of dies shall consist of the number of aies required f
8、or use in a die head to cut one size of thread. 5. Interchangeability. All parts shall be manufactured to such standards that will permit replacement or adjustment without modification of the tool assembly. 6. Marking. All dies shall be marked with their thread series and size. Marking shall be legi
9、ble and permanent. Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practic
10、es. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. Regulatory requirements. In accordance with section 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Governments
11、policy is to acquire items composed of the highest percentage of recovered materials practicable, consistent with maintaining a satisfactory level of competition without adversely affecting performance requirements or exposing suppliers employees to undue hazards from the recovered materials. Respon
12、sibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection, examination, and test requirements specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his
13、 own or any other facilities suitable for the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections, examinations, or tests set forth in this description where such inspections, examinations, and tests are

The absence of any inspection requirements in the description shall not relieve the c
16、ontractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, th
17、is does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. Sampling inspection. As a minimum sampling inspection, the supplier shall randomly select the number of samples in Table I that is applicable to t
18、he quantity of items being purchased. Each sample item shall be inspected to determine conformance with the test. Should any of the sample items fail to meet the test below, the entire lot shall be considered defective and unsuitable for acceptance. A lot is defined as all items presented at one tim

Each selected die head shall be tested under actual conditions using a set of dies selected at random from the dies to be supplied on the order or contract. Cutting tests shall be conducted on the mat
20、erials for which the dies have been specified in the order or contact, and be capable of producing consistent, smooth, well-defined threads through ten consecutive operations. Preservation, packaging, packing. and marking. Preservation packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified
