2、 1. SCOPE. This CID covers one type of survival saw which is included in survival kits. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: 2.1 Design. The saw shall be new and of the manufacturers commercial design in effect on the solicitation, and shall meet the requirements specified herein and shall conform to current

3、 industrial practices. The saw assembly shall consist of two grip assemblies, and one round saw blade. 2.3 Grip assembly. Each grip assembly shall consist of one

5、 blade holder and one ring. The ring shall be .140 - .172 inch thick x 1.025 - 1.125 inch inside diameter, and shall be endless and smooth to allow 360 degree free rotation of the ring in the blade holder. 2.4 Blade holder. Each blade holder consists of a clamping device actuated by a thumb screw wi

6、th a finger ring style grip. 2.5 Saw blade. Each blade assembly shall have a helical groove upset 360 degrees around and along the entire cutting length similar to figure 2, and shall be .O45 - .O55 inch diameter, 12-14 turns per inch by 19.750 - 20.250 inches long. 2.6 Surface treatment. All compon

7、ent parts of the saw assembly except the saw blade shall be corrosion preventive treated. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)

8、 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 4.1 Contractor Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets salient characteristics of this CID, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality a

9、ssurance practices. As a minimum sampling inspection, the supplier shall randomly select one saw assembly for each 300 unit packs offered in the lot see Table I. Each sample

11、 item shall be inspected to determine conformance with the performance tests. Should any of the sample items fail to meet the test requirements the entire lot shall be considered defective and unsuitable for acceptance. A lot is defined as 300 unit packs. 4.3 Performance tests. 4.3.1 Plastic cutting

12、 Saw at least 6 inches through .125 inch thick plexiglacs. 4.3.2 Wood cutting. Saw through at least two pieces of 1.5 x 3.5 inch solid pine lumber. 4.3.3 Steel cutting. Saw at least .125 deep through 8 gage stainless steel in not more than 15 sawing strokes. 4.3.4 Tension load. Clamp the grip ring

13、at one end of the saw assembly in a fixed holding device and apply a 50 pound tension load to the ring on the opposite end for at least 30 seconds. Blade separation from either holder, blade breakage, permanent ring deformation, or thread damage, in the blade holder or on the thumb screw, shall be c

PACKAGING. 5.1 Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be specif

15、ied in the contract. 5.2 Unit pack. Each unit pack shall include one complete saw assembly and one spare saw blade.
