In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the refere
9、nces cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 General. The requirements specified in Drawing 49D7079 shall be applicable as requirements of this specification. Addit ional requirements shall be as specified herein. 3.1.1 Where the requirements of Drawi
10、ng 49D7079 and the requirements of this specification conflict, the requirements of this specification shall govern. 3.2 Materials. When materials are used which are not specifically designated, they shall be entirely suitable for the purpose intended. 3.3 Construction. The safety belt shall be of s
11、uch strength as to withstand a static load nf 1,500 pounds, without weakening of the webbing and stitching, and without slippage of the adjusting hardware, or deformation of the metal fitting. 3.4 Performance. The belt shall be capable of satisfactorily meeting the requirements as specified in Secti
12、on 4. 3.7 Marking. Each shoulder harness shall be marked by means of a sewed label located on the harness as shown on the applicable detail drawing. This label shall be in accordance with Specification MIL-L-15040, type I, side 1, except that the lettering sha3.1 consist of white letters on a black
13、background, lettering to read in the direction of the warp of the label. 15、r entered in the space provided shall be as specified by the procuring agency. The stock number shall include the name or standard abbreviations of the Service having jurisdiction of the equ ipme n t. 3.6 Workmanship. The belt, including all parts and accessories, shall conform to the quality establ
16、ished by this specification and documents referenced herein. Particular attention shall be given to marking of parts and assemblies and freedom of hardware from burrs and sharp edges. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the acceptance criteria established herein. Repair of items not allowed.
17、3.7 Reclaimed materials. The use of reclaimed materials shall be encouraged to the maximum extent possible. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the perfor- mance of all ins
18、pection requirements as specified herein. Except as other- wise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reser
19、ves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Method of examination and tests. All the tests required for the testing of safety belts are classified
20、as Inspection tests, for which necessary sampling techniques and methods of testing are specified in this section. The contractor shall furnish all samples and shall be responsible for accomplishing the required tests. When inspection is conducted at the contractors plant, all inspection and testing
21、 shall be under the supervision of the Government Inspector. Contractors not having laboratory testing facilities satisfactory to the Government shall engage the services of a commercial testing laboratory acceptable to the procuring agency. contractor shall furnish test reports, showing the results
22、 for all tests required by this specification, and signed by an authorized representative of the contractor or laboratory, as applicable. Acceptance or approval of material during course of manufacture shall in no case be construed as a guaranty of the acceptance of the finished product. The - 4.2 I
23、ndividual Tests. Each belt shall be subjected to the following tests. 4.2.1 Examination of Product. Each safety belt shall be inspected to determine coq1 iance with the requirements spec if ied herein. 4.2.2 Visual and dimensional examination. Each belt assembly and component thereof shall be examin
24、ed for conformance to MIL-STD-849. Belt assembly shall meet the requirements of personnel parachute harness in MIL-STD-849; however, repair of item in classification of defects table not authorized. 4.2.3 Proof Load. Each belt shall be assembled in a testing machine and subjected to a 1,000-pound st
25、atic load. The belts shall be assembled in the testing machine by attaching both the snap fasteners and the link fasteners to the movable head while the webbing of the belt is passed around a 2-inch Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-dia
26、meter bar, fixed perpendicular to the direction of pull, and attached to the stationary head. Installation shall be such that there will be no twisting of the webbing. The belt shall be adjusted to assure an equal transmittal of the load through each strap. The load shall be applied evenly until the
27、 specified load is attained. There shall be no signs of weakening of webbing and stitching, slippage of the webbing through the adjusting hardware, or deformation fo the metal fittings. 4.3 Sampling Tests. 4.3.1 Not less than one finished belt out of each 100 shipped on any order shall be assembled
28、in the testing maching (see paragraph 4.2.2) and tested in tension under a static load of 1,500 pounds. After testing, there shall no signs of weakening of the webbing and stitching, slippage of the webbing through the adjusting hardware, or deformation of the metal fittings. 4.3.2 Belts subjected t
29、o the 1,500 pounds static test, shall be disposed of upon completion of the test, and shall not be counted as part of the order. 4.4 Rejection and Retests, Rejected safety belts shall not be resubmitted for inspection without furnishing full particulars concerning previous rejection and measures tak
30、en to overcome defects. 4.5 All parts, specimens, or assemblies destroyed in making tests required by this specification and drawings, to determine compliance with the specification and drawings, shall be in addition to the quantity specified in the contract or purchase order and shall be furnished
31、without increasing the cost of the contract or order. 5. PACKAGING. 5.1 Preservation and packaging. Preservation and packaging shall be level A or C as specified (see 6.2). 5.1.1 Level A, The Harness shall be preserved and packaged Method III of MIL-P-116 and placed in snug fitting box conforming to
32、 specification PPP-B-566. 5.1.2 Level C. The Harness shall be preserved and packaged in a manner that will afford adequate protection against deterioration and physical damage during shipment from the supply source to the first receiving activity for immediate use. This may conform to the suppliers
33、comercial practice provided the latter meets the requirement f this level. 5.2 Packing. Packing shall be level A, B or C as specified (see 6.2). 5.2.1 Level A. The Harness preserved and packaged as specified in 5.1.1. shall be packed in a container conforming to class Weather Resistant of PPP-B-636.
34、 The closure of shipping container shall be in accordance with the appendix of the shipping container spec if icat ion 5.2.2 Level B. Same as Level A except the container shall be class Domestic of PPP-B-636. 5.2.3 Level C. The Harness preserved and packaged as specified in 5.1.1 shall be packed in

The harness covered by this specification is intended for use by military personnel in aircraft using side facing seats (as a restraining safety harness.) 6.2 Ordering Data, Purc
37、hase requests and invitations for bids should specify whether the harness should be prepared for domestic or overseas s h ipmen t. (a Selection of applicable levels of preservation, packaging and packing (see 5.1 and 5.2). 6.3 Changes from previous issue. The margins of this specification are marked
38、 with an asterisk to indicate where changes (additions, modifications, corrections, deletions) from the previous issue were made.
