In the event of a conf
13、lict between the test of this specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail specifications, specification sheets or MS standards) , the text of this specification shall take precedence. Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulati
14、ons unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First Article. This specification makes provisions for the First Article (preproduction) Testing (see 4.4). 3.2 Selection of Specifications & Standards. Specifications and standards for necessary commodities and services not spec
15、ified herein shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143. 3.2.1 Commercial parts. Commercial parts having suitable properties may be used where, on the date of invitation for bids, there are no suitable standard parts. In my case, commercial utility parts, such as screws, bolts, nuts and cotter
16、 pins having suitable properties may be used provided: a. They can be replaced by the standard parts (Ms or AN) without alteration. b. The corresponding standard part numbers are referenced in the parts list. 3.2.2 Standard Parts. With the exception of 3.2.1, MS or AN standard parts shall be used wh
17、ere they suit the purpose. 3.3 Materials 3.3.1 Metals. Metals shall be of the 6061-T6 aluminum type or suitable treated to resist corrosion due to fuels, salt spray, or atmospheric conditions likely to be met in storage or normal service. When materials are used that are subject to corrosion, they s
18、hall be protected against such corrosion in a manner that will in no way prevent compliance with the performance requirements specified herein. The use of any protection coating that will crack, chip, or scale with age or extremes of atmospheric conditions shall be avoided. e 3.3.2 Dissimilar Metals
19、. Unless suitably protected against electrolytic corrosion, dissimilar metals shall not be used in intimate contact with each other. Dissimilar metals are defined in MIL-STD-889. 3.4 Design & Construction. The design and construction of the maintenance platform shall incorporate the various performa
20、nce requirements together with the features specified herein. The maintenance platform shall be designed to the requirements of MIL-S-8512 and MIL-STD-1472. Design must include use of standard commercial components to the extent that replaceable item equivalents be available during the expected 20 y
21、ears service life of the platform. It shall be built to withstand the jars, strains, vibrations and other conditions incident to shipping, storage and service. Stress calculations shall be submitted to show compliance with MIL-S-8512. The main frame shall be of 6061-T6 aluminum cross-sections and sh
22、all be mainly pinned (fittings, rivets, bolts, clamps) construction with the least possible welds. Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMI L- M- 87 977 ( USAF 1 3.4.1 Maintenance Platform Design (General). The maintenance platforms shall be designed to meet the Working Level Heights depicted by
23、USAF drawing number 7747223 and all other design features specified herein. The maintenance platform shall be mobile and must be designed to be easily moved by three average size individuals. The maintenance platform weight shall not exceed 2800 pounds and its towbar will be designed to allow one ma
24、n to lift it from the ground with a maximum force of 20 pounds. The maximum force required to start moving the platform from rest shall not exceed 60 pounds force. All internal structural members adjacent to the upper platform cut-out and the interior side of the lower platform shall be inset to all
25、ow at least 10 inch clearance between aircraft and stand structure to preclude inadvertent contact of stand structure and aircraft. There shall be two working levels, Upper, and Lower. 3.4.1.1 Upper Level Floor. The upper level floor shall provide adequate working area to safely install the dragchut
26、e. The floor elevation and fuselage cut-out size and configuration shall be as shown in USAF drawing 7747223 and shall meet the following requirements: a. A fuselage cut-out shall be provided to accomodate the tail end of the 8-52 H model symmetrically from the platform rear. There shall be a workin
27、g floor area on both sides of the aircraft extending up to fuselage station 1824 shown in USAF Drawing 7747223 and having a minimum width of 42 inches. b. A removable saddle contoured adapter is required for use with the B-52G aircraft. The adapter shall easily be mounted and removed and shall reduc
28、e cut-out depth by five inches at the tail end of the cut-out. The adapter is to prevent the front end of the upper floor from contacting the ALQ-117 antenna fairings. c. Boeing Company drawings 24-1071 and 34-1800 provide tail loft data for B-52 G & H models respectively. d. The cut-out shall allow
29、 clearance to install bumper specified in paragraph 3.4.9 and a three inch clearance between the bumnper and the aircraft. e. ,A 30 inch minimum walk way width shall be provided to allow personnel to walk around the tail end of the aircraft. f. A 24 X 30 inch staircase landing shall be provided on t
30、he upper floor forward end. g. A folding floor panel is required on the platform rear right (aircraft left side) to clear pneumatic syster access door opening and dragchute door handcrank rotation and to allow headroom when cranking from lower level floor. The floor panel shall meet the following re
31、quirements: (1) Provide a five inch hand clearance for dragchute door handcrank turning. (2) Provide enough clearance to open and close pneumatic system access door when platform bumpers are against fuselage side. (3) The middle horizontal handrail behind the folding floor panel shall be I at an ele
32、vation to allow a five inch hand clearance for swinging the folding floor panel to and from its opened position. O 4 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL- M- 87977 ( US AF 1 (4) A stop mounted on the handrail behind the folding floor panel shall be provided to support the door in its opened
33、position. The stop shall be made of angle iron at least .25 inches thick. A positive lock shall be provided in the opened or closed position. (5) A ladder grab handle shall be provided on the upper deck contour side next to the kickplate and forward of the folding floor panel. The handle shall be si
34、milar to the lift handle on folding floor panel. The handle shall be sturdy enough to support 200 pounds without bending or breaking. 3.4.1.2 Lower Level Floor. The lower level floor shall provide adequate working area to safely operate the dragchute door handcrank and perform necessary dragchute in
35、stallation connections and adjustments inside the pneumatic system access door. The handcrank throw is 8.5 inches and projects 10 inches. The door opens up and is locked open at an 80 angle. The lower level floor is required only on the right side of the stand (lef side of aircraft) and will start a
36、t fuselage station 1824 and extend to 1873.50. It shall have a minimum width of 42 inches. The elevation and fuselage clearance of the lower level floor shall be as shown in USAF drawing 7747223. 3.4.1.3 Platform Section. The platform shall be designed in sections to allow assembly/disassembly and t
37、ransporation capability. The sections shall be kept to a highway transportation cubage envelope 9 feet high by 8 feet wide by 20 feet long. 3.4.1.4 Platform Sections Lifting Provisions. Each maintenance platform section shall have lifting eyes with an inside diameter of at least 2 inches. The liftin
38、g eyes shall not interfere with the assembly nor present a safety harzard after the platform is erected. The lifting eyes shall be located SO the crane can perform necessary positioning of the sections for assembly requiring the least manual handling. 3.4.1.5 Platform Section Weight Information. Eac
39、h maintenance platform section shall have a data plate located in a conspicuous area indicating its weight. This is required for personnel safety and convenient lifting equipment selection. 3-4.2 Reliability. The maintenance platform reliability will be to the extent that all acceptance and pre-prod
40、uction test requirements are successfully met. 3.4.3 Maintainability The maintenance platform shall be designed and constructed as specified herein and to provide the following: a. Minimum number of parts consistent with reliability and performance as specified. b. Minimum amount of training and tim
41、e necessary for assembly, disassembly, location of trouble sources, and maintenance, including servicing. Where practical, parts and components shall be located or positioned for rapid and simple inspection and recognition of excessive wear or potential failure. c. Permit adjustments, servicing, rep
42、lacement of parts and components, and other maintenance with minimum disturbance to other equipment parts and components. 43、rformance or reliability will be appreciably degraded by the accessible location. In performing maintenance, if engineering reasoning or date determines the physical or visual interface between items cannot be avoided, the item predicted to require the most maintenance shall be located for best acce
44、ssibility. d. Permit maintenance with general-purpose tools and equipment normally available commercially. Use of special purpose tools and equipment shall be subject to approval by the procuring activity. e. Minimumnumber of tools required for maintenance by design practices such as reducing the va
45、riety of bolt head sizes to the practical minimum, f. Primary bolted structure. Welds shall be used only when there is no other mechanical means to make a connection. 3.4.4 Drainage Provisions. The maintenance platform shall include provisions for the continous drainage of water from the Steps, plat
46、form, structural members and other components. All drain holes shall have a minimum diameter of 0.25 inches. 3.4.5 Safety considerations. Means shall be provided to include, but be limited to, safety features as noted below and contained elsewhere herein: a. Warning plates. Warning plates shall be p
47、rovided at proper locations as required to prevent uunsafe conditions/operations. b. Weight Limit Warning Information. A warning plate shall be provided to specify the maximum allowable weight on each step, the individual floors and the entire maintenance platform. c. Flooring Surfaces. All flooring
48、 surfaces including stair steps shall be expanded metal material and shall meet the requirements of MIL-STD-1472. The entrance corner of all the steps shall be coated with nonslip compound MIL-W-5044, Type II, Class II, color FED-STD-595 number 37028. The compound will be applied from where the nons
49、lip expanded metal ends to over the full corner radius. d. Stability. The maintenance platform must remain stable under all conditions stated herein. e. Reflectors. Reflectorized tape shall be added on the stand in accordance with T.O. 35-1-3, page 2-2, paragraph 2-20. f. Hoist Gears. Chain hoist exposed gears shall be covered, reference MIL-STD-1472, para 5.13.7.2.1. g. Stencils. Stencil Maximum Towing Speed 5 MPH on top of both tierod guards. The letters shall be at least one inch high. A stencil shall be added on the main stair steps, WARNING STEEP STAIRS. Tire inflation
