When specified in the acquisition documents (see 6.2), samples shall besubjected to first article inspection.3.2 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials . Recycled, recovered, orenvi
17、ronmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided thatthe material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promoteseconomically advantageous life cycle cost.3.3 Materials . All materials shall resist, or be suitably treated to resist c
18、orrosion due toelectrolytic decomposition, salt spray, and any other atmospheric condition that may beencountered during operational use or storage. The use of toxic chemicals, hazardous substances,or ozone depleting chemicals (ODCs) shall be avoided, whenever feasible.3.4 Components . The inflation
19、 device shall consist of at least a container for the inflationmedium and a transfer assembly (see figure 1).3.4.1 Container . The container shall be charged with 0.5, +0.01 or 0.02, pounds (lbs) of aninflation medium (see 6.2 and 6.3). A cylinder conforming to MIL -C -7905, (except that thefragment

The transfer assembly shall consist of a diffuser, a coupler, and amanual actuating device. The transfer assembly shall also have an outlet, an inlet, a safety port,and an opening
22、 for venting air from a packed life raft. The device, upon actuation, shall inflate anLRU-16/P or LRU-17/P life raft to its designed shape, size, and at least minimum, but not morethan maximum pressure within 30 seconds.3.4.2.1 Inadvertent discharge . The transfer assembly shall incorporate a device
23、 which, untilremoved, prevents inadvertent, unintended discharge of inflation medium.3.4.2.2 Diffuser . The transfer assembly shall include a removable diffuser to dissipate the thrustof the inflation medium in the case of damage or mishandling resulting in an inadvertent discharge.The diffuser shal
24、l be capable of insertion and tightening into the coupler, and loosening andremoval from the coupler without the use of tools. After proper tightening, it shall not loosenduring transportation and storage.3.5 Interface .3.5.1 Compatibility . The inflation device shall be compatible with the LRU-16/P
25、 and LRU -17/Plife rafts as described in MIL-L-83491.3.5.2 Weight . The weight of the inflation device (less the diffuser) with a charged containershall not exceed 2.01 lbs.3.5.3 Screw threads . Screw threads, if used on the inflation device, shall conform toFED -STD -H28 or any other commercially a
26、cceptable thread standard.3.5.4 Coupler . The coupler shall attach the inflation device to the life raft connector conformingto AF Drawing 76212.3.6 Removal of parts . The inflation medium container shall be rechargeable through thetransfer assembly outlet without special tools. Other than removal o
27、f the diffuser, disassembly ofthe inflation device shall not be required to recharge the container.3.7 Performance .3.7.1 Leakage . With the transfer assembly in the closed position, the inflation device shall notleak when exposed to temperatures ranging from -65 to 160 F.3.7.2 Vent leakage . With t
28、he transfer assembly in the open position and 2.0 lbs per square inchgage (psig) pressure applied to the outlet of the transfer assembly, the leakage from the transferassembly shall not exceed 0.2 psig/min.3.7.3 Vent flow . With the transfer assembly in the off position, the flow of inflation medium

30、r (manual system operation) . The transfer assembly shall open fully when a loadbetween 15 and 21 lbs is applied to the actuator, and shall be operable from any direction of pull.3.7.5 Strength of actuator . The actuator shall withstand a force of 300 lbs without failure ofany part.3.7.6 Operation a
31、t 70 F . When operated at a temperature of 70 F, the inflation device transferassembly shall discharge a minimum of 90 percent of the inflation medium in at least 5 secondswithout leakage.3.7.7 Operation at 20 F . When operated at a temperature of 20 F, the inflation devicetransfer assembly shall di
32、scharge a minimum of 50 percent of the inflation medium in at least 5seconds without leakage.3.7.8 Coupling torque . A tightening torque of 25 to 30 foot-pounds applied to the coupler shallnot cause failure, permanent deformation of the coupler or leakage of the transfer assembly.3.7.9 Operation . T
33、he inflation device shall operate freely under all normal operating conditionsto which it might be subjected. Any time the inflation device is actuated, the actuator shalloperate smoothly and without damage to, loss of, or loosening of any component. The inflationdevice shall continue to operate smo
34、othly and without binding after any normal operation.3.7.10 Pressure relief . A safety port shall release the inflation medium into the atmosphere in theevent of excess container pressure. The safety port shall relieve the pressure, without damage tothe inflation device, at a pressure between 3,150
35、and 3,500 psig.3.8 Reliability . The inflation device shall have a reliability of 0.985 at a 90 percent confidencelevel.3.9 Item identification . All parts havi
38、ng the same manufacturers part number shall be functionally and dimensionally interchangeable. 3.11 Environmental. The inflation device shall not inadvertently discharge or show evidence of damage, such as cracks, permanent corrosion, deformation, leaks, or other flaws, during or after exposure to t
39、he environmental conditions below, and shall function as specified. a. Exposure to atmosphere containing salt-laden moisture. b. Vibration incident to service use. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First arti
40、cle inspection (see 4.2). b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3). 4.2 First article inspection. When specified by the procuring activity (see 6.2), five sample inflation devices and two uncharged inflation medium containers shall be subjected to all of the inspections and tests in 4.6 and 4.7. The firs
41、t article inspection for the two uncharged inflation medium containers shall be conducted in accordance with an industrially accepted test procedure or, if cylinders are used, the first article inspection described in MIL-C-7905, including the endurance test and the flattening test, shall be conduct
42、ed. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Conformance inspection shall include tests specified in 4.3.1 and 4.3.2. 4.3.1 Individual tests. Each inflation device or inflation medium container shall be subjected to the tests below: a. Visual examination (see 4.6.1). b. Leakage at +70 F (see 4.6.4.1). c. Weight
43、(see 4.6.3). d. Actuator operation (see 4.6.9.1). 4.3.2 Sampling inspection. Samples of inflation devices shall be selected from a lot of completed inflation devices in accordance with inspection Level II of ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, or equivalent, and subjected to a vacuum leak test (see 4.3.3). 4.3.3 Vacuum

Unless otherwise indicated in the test procedures, all performance, environmental, and test requirements are based on an inflation device complete
48、with replaceable components. 4.5.2 Test conditions. Unless otherwise specified in the test procedures, all required tests shall be conducted under the ambient conditions, i.e., atmospheric pressure of 28 to 32 inches of mercury, temperature of 59 to 95 F, and relative humidity of not more than 80%.
49、If conditions change during a test, the test shall be suspended and appropriate corrections applied before resuming the test. Unless otherwise indicated in the test procedures, test sample temperature conditioning shall be at least one hour longer than that required for the sample to reach thermal equilibrium. 4.5.3 Nitrogen. Where gaseous nitrogen is
