This specification covers blind rivet guns for high performance aircraft and missiles. 1.2 Classification. Blind rivet

2、guna shall be portable, pneu- matic and capable of installing 3/16 and 1/4 inch lockbolts, and 1/8, 5/32, 3/16 and 1/4 inch blind rivets, self plugging and pull through. 2. The weight of the gun, complete with average nose assembly will not exceed 9 1/2 pounds. 3.4.8 Size. The overall dimensions

14、of the gun and nose assembly will not exceed the following: Height - 1% inches Width - 5% inches Length - 9% inches 3.4.9 Gun action and operation. The gun sal be pneumatic, trigger operated and produce an axial pulling force through the nose assembly, of pulling and return to the neutral position w

15、ith each actuation of the trigger. “he gun shall automatically complete one cycle 3.5 Selection of specifications and standards. Specifications and standards for necessary commodities and services not specified herein shall be selected in accordance with commercial standards except as provided in 3.

16、5.1 and 3.5.2. 3.5.1 Commercial parts. Commercial parts having suitable prop- erties may be used provided. a. They may be replaced by the standard parts (MS or AN) without al ter at ion. b. The corresponding standard part numbers are referenced in the parts list and, if practical, on the contractors

17、 draw- ings and manuals. 3.5.2 Standard parts. With the exception specified in 3;5.1, Ms and AN Standard Parts shall be used where they suit the pur- pose. number. 3.6 Performance. The gun shall be capable of continuous operation in temperatures ranging from -20 to 1209. They shall be identified on

The gun shall be capable of withstanding pro- , longed storage in temperatures ranging from -65 to 1609. 3.6.2 Installation of fasteners. The gun shall be

19、capable of installing the following fasteners with the use of applicable nose assemblies: 3/16 and 1/4 inch lockbolts; 1/8, 5/32, 3/16 and 1/4 inch blind rivets, self plugging and pull through. 3.6.3 Endurance. The gun shall be capable of installing 6000 3/16 inch lockbolts. 3.7 Iriterchangeability.

20、 All parts having the same manu- facturers part number shall be functionally and dimensionally interchangeable. 3.8 Identification of product. Equipment assemblies and parts shall be marked for identification in accordance with Military Standard MIL-STD-130. 3.9 Technical data. Complete design activ

21、ity drawings, parts li 3/16 and 1/4_inch. Failure to install these rivets satisfactorily shall be cause for rejection. 4.6.2 Endurance. The gun shall satisfactorily pull 6000. 3/16 inch lockbolts. of ail incidents of the test, such as adjustments made, servicing performed and any irregular functioni

22、ng of the gun and corrective measures taken. 4.6.3 Environmental tests. The gun shall be subjected to the following tests in accordance with the specified pro- cedures of HIL-E-4970. 4.6.4 LOW temperature. The gun shall be subjected to law temperature in accordance with procedure I of MIL-E-4970. wh

23、en using the applicable nose assembly: 1/8, 5/32, 3/16 and 1/4 inch pull through and self plugging blind rivets and 3/16 and 1/4 inch lockbolts. The above rivets shall be of any material not exceeding 2800 pounds tensile strength. 6.2 Ordering data. Procurement documents should specify the following

24、: a. Title, number, and date of this specification. b. Whether drawings, parts list, and overhaul and maintenance manuals are required. (see 3.9). c. Size and quantity of nose assemblies required. d. Whether case is to be furnished. (see 3.10). e. Point of inspection, (see 4.1). f. Location of tests

25、. (see 4.6). g. Whether test rep.orts are to be submitted. (see 4.1). h. Preservation and packaging. (see 5.1). i. Level of packing. (see 5.2). j. Marking. (see 5.3). k.
