(ARINC) was incorporated in

6、1929 by four fledgling airlines in the UnitedStates as a privately-owned company dedicated to serving the communications needs of the air transportindustry. Today, the major U.S. airlines remain the Companys principal shareholders. Othershareholders include a number of non-U.S. airlines and other ai

7、rcraft operators.ARINC sponsors aviation industry committees and participates in related industry activities that benefitaviation at large by providing technical leadership and guidance and frequency management. Theseactivities directly support airline goals: promote safety, efficiency, regularity,

8、and cost-effectiveness inaircraft operations.The Airlines Electronic Engineering Committee (AEEC) is an international body of airline technicalprofessionals that leads the development of technical standards for airborne electronic equipment-including avionics and in-flight entertainment equipment-us

9、ed in commercial, military, and businessaviation. The AEEC establishes consensus-based, voluntary form, fit, function, and interface standardsthat are published by ARINC and are known as ARINC Standards. The use of ARINC Standards resultsin substantial benefits to airlines by allowing avionics inter

10、changeability and commonality and reducingavionics cost by promoting competition.There are three classes of ARINC Standards:a) ARINC CharacteristicsDefine the form, fit, function, and interfaces of avionics and otherairline electronic equipment. ARINC Characteristics indicate to prospective manufact

11、urers ofairline electronic equipment the considered and coordinated opinion of the airline technicalcommunity concerning the requisites of new equipment including standardized physical andelectrical characteristics to foster interchangeability and competition.b) ARINC Specifications-Are principally

12、used to define either the physical packaging ormounting of avionics equipment, data communication standards, or a high-level computerlanguage.c) ARINC Reports -Provide guidelines or general information found by the airlines to begood practices, often related to avionics maintenance and support.The r

Itincorporates changes to MIL-C-81659 that have takenplace since ARINC Specification 404A was publ

29、ished in1974. These changes have not affected the form, fit orfunction of the connectors. In addition, new avionicsinstallations on commercial aircraft are requiring the useof connectors that provide EMI protection. These EMIrequirements have been added to this Specification.ARINC Specification 404B

30、 contains provisions for theconnectors along with Appendices A and B that define theconnector insert arrangements and the connector keyinglayouts, respectively. In addition, there is a series of 12connector drawings defining the dimensionalconfiguration of the four basic shell sizes for plugs,recept

31、acles and plugs with EMI capability. ThisSpecification improves definition of the connector portionof ARINC Specification 404A.1.2 ClassificationConnectors covered by this standard should have wiresupport grommets.1.2.1 Temperature RatingThe connector should be operable between thetemperature ranges

32、 of -55C to +125C.1.3 Part NumberThe connector part number should consist of a series ofalphanumeric characters.1.4 ContentsThe contacts should be rear release from the connector,unless otherwise specified (see Section 3.1).1.5 Contact Insert ArrangementsContact insert arrangements should be as spec

33、ified inAppendix A and should be ordered with the connectorshells (see Section 3.1).1.6 Polarization PositionsThe polarization position of the connector should be inaccordance with Appendix B. All connectors should besupplied with the polarizing hardware shipped in the 01position, unless otherwise s

This will provide a list of approvedconnector suppliers that will permit users to purchaseARINC connectors from several approved sourc

42、 19111-5094.3.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS3.1 Specification SheetsThe individual item requirements should be as specifiedherein and in accordance with the applicableSpecification Sheets. In the event of a conflict betweenthe requirements of this Specification and theSpecification Sheets, the latter will

43、 govern.3.2 MaterialsMaterials should be used which will enable theconnectors to meet the performance requirements of thisstandard. Acceptance or approval of any constituentmaterial should not be construed as an assurance of theacceptance of the finished product.3.2.1 Dissimilar MetalsWhen dissimila

44、r metals are employed in intimatecontract with each other, suitable protection againstelectrolytic corrosion should be provided as specified inrequirement 16 of MIL-HDBK-454 or equivalent.3.2.2 Non-Magnetic MaterialsAll parts should be made from materials which pass themagnetic permeability test of

45、2Mu when tested inaccordance with ASTM A342 or equivalent.3.2.3 ShellsShells should be made from a high grade aluminumalloy. Die casting materials should conform tocomposition number 13, A13, 380, A380 or SC114A ofASTM B 85, or aluminum forging alloy conforming toASTM B 211 or ASTM B 209 or equivale

46、nt.3.2.4 FinishThe connector finish on all exposed metal parts, otherthan electrical contacts, insert retention plates, andcorrosion resistant steel parts, should be in accordancewith SAE AMS 2404 for conductive surfaces or MIL-C-5541 class 1A for non-conductive surfaces (seeSection 3.1).3.3 Inserts

47、3.3.1 Rigid Insert MaterialRigid insert material should meet the electrical andmechanical requirements specified.3.3.2 Resilient Insert MaterialResilient insert material should be a high gradeelastomer having a shore “A” hardness between 35 and65 and meet the electrical and mechanical requirementssp

48、ecified.3.4 Design and ConstructionConnectors should be of the design and constructionspecified for the individual shell configurations (seeSection 3.1).3.4.1 ContactsUnless otherwise specified, contacts should conform toMIL-C-39029/11 for pins and MIL-C-39029/12 forsockets. A quantity of contacts c

49、onsisting of the normalcomplement, plus one spare contact of each size forconnector arrangements having 26 contacts or less andtwo spares for arrangements over 26 contacts of eachsize should be included in the unit package.3.4.1.1 Coaxial ContactsCoaxial contacts should conform to TBD coaxialcontact and ordered separately.3.4.1.2 Grounding SpringsGrounding springs should be of a material that iscapable of meeting the requirements specified hereinand plated with a material that is compatible with themating connector (see Section 3.1).3.4.2 Grommet Filler PlugsGrommet filler plugs
