18、 for FlexibleCouplings, and AGMA 513.01, Taper Bores for Flexible Couplings.The intent of ANSI/AGMA 9002-A86 was to offer designers and users standard dimensionsand tolerances for inch bores, keys and keyways for flexible couplings. In general, thedimensions contained in ANSI/AGMA 9002-A86 represent
19、ed the dimensions andtolerances used within the industry for pre-engineered couplings. It proved useful inestablishing dimensions and tolerances for custom engineered coupling products.ANSI/AGMA 9002-A86 was developed after intensive study of previously existingstandards, literature, design practice
20、s and manufacturing procedures for bores andkeyways of unmounted flexible coupling hubs and similar components. The study revealedthat much of the data contained in previously existing standards and specifications waspredicated upon practice and procedures that pertained more to keyways in the shaft
21、members than to keyways in coupling hub bores. The information contained withANSI/AGMA 9002-A86 did not necessarily agree with some commonly usedspecifications. ANSI/AGMA 9002-A86 was based upon the design criteria related to boresand keyways in coupling hubs that had evolved over many years of succ
22、essful industrypractice.ANSI/AGMA 9002-A86 presented pertinent data on dimensions, tolerances, and sizes forstraight bores, tapered bores, keys and keyways for unmounted industrial flexiblecouplings. Decimal equivalents of fractions were shown to a maximum of four decimalplaces and were not meant to
23、 imply tolerances. Inspection methods for tapered bores andkeyways were included in the appendices. The appendices also included therecommended design practice for tapered shafts for use with flexible couplings.ANSI/AGMA 9002-B04 supersedes the information from ANSI/AGMA 9002-A86, Boresand Keyways f
24、or Flexible Couplings (Inch Series).This revised version of the standard includes an extension of the bore sizes (through 18inches). It has also been rearranged and clarified to make it easier to use. One annex wasbroken into two annexes to clarify the information presented. Two new annexes wereadde
25、d: “Straight bore inspection methods” and “Coupling hub bores required to obtainANSI B4.1 “Preferred Limits and Fits for Cylindrical Parts” FN2 class interference fits withAGMA 9002-B04 recommended shaft tolerances”.The first draft of ANSI/AGMA 9002-B04 was made in May 2001. It was approved by theAG

43、 Fits, Class 2Clearance Fits, and Interference Fits as shown intable 2. The type of shaft-to-hub fit selected isdependent on the type of coupling and service inwhich the coupling will be used. If a particular type offit is desired, it shall be specified by the purchaser ofthe coupling.4.1.1.1 Cleara
44、nce fitsClearance fits are normally used to facilitate assem-bly and disassembly of coupling hub(s). Factors tobe considered when using clearance fits include:- axial positioning of coupling hub(s) during opera-tion;- when couplings are used for axial location of con-nected equipment (limited end fl
45、oat);- the effect of hub-to-shaft clearance on couplingbalance;- fretting of shaft and hub bore.NOTE: Some coupling manufacturers or users mayprefer the use of a positive clearance fit. The minimumclearance fit of this standard is line to line. Consult withthe coupling manufacturer to determine thei
46、r standardpractice.4.1.1.2 Interference fitsInterference fits are normally used to:- maintain positive axial location of the hub(s) onthe shaft(s) during operation;- maintain axial location of connected equipment;- preserve the inherent balance quality of the cou-pling;- minimize fretting of the sha
47、ft and bore.Nominal interference fit is 0.0005 inch/inch of shaftdiameter. Some applications may require greaterinterference fit. The coupling purchaser shall advisethe coupling manufacturer when a heavier interfer-ence fit is required. Heavier fits can influence thecoupling design and materials sel
48、ected.4.1.2 Unspecified hub-to-shaft fitsWhen the purchaser does not specify the hub-to-shaft fit required, the coupling manufacturer will borethe coupling to their standard tolerance in accor-dance with one of the fits given in table 2. Thepurchaser is responsible for the resulting fit.4.2 Non-stan
