5、e considered a part of the standard, however, it is offered to providebackground information.ASSE Standards are developed in the interest of consumer safety.For many years, the method of priming traps has been with the use of a water supply trap primerdevice, which is activated with pressure fluctua

6、tions or flow in the water supply piping. Thismethod of priming continues to be the method of choice by some members in the plumbingcommunity, although priming devices, which are addressed by ASSE 1044, provide trap sealprotection by utilizing electronic design or drainage-type trap priming devices.

7、The critical feature in these devices is the backflow preventer. This standard addresses criteriafor the evaluation of the backflow prevention features.Recognition is made of the time volunteered by members of the working group and of thesupport of the manufacturers who also participated in the meet

8、ings for this standard.This standard does not imply ASSEs endorsement of a product which conforms to theserequirements.Compliance with this standard does not imply acceptance by any code body.It is recommended that these devices be installed consistent with local codes by qualified andtrained profes

13、Detailed Requirements4.1 Materials4.1.1 Allowable MaterialsMaterials used in the device shall meet the performance requirements of the standard.4.1.2 Materials and Toxicity4.1.2.1 Contaminated MaterialsMaterials shall comply with the applicable sections of the ASSE Reference Document RD-001“Material

14、 Toxicity Requirements for Plumbing Products and Devices.”4.1.2.2 Compliance and CertificationAll elastomers and polymers in contact with the water shall have characteristics that comply withthe United States Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), title 21, 177.2600, or shall be certified asnon-toxic by

15、 an independent approved laboratory.4.1.3 Corrosion of Interior PartsAll metal parts (except springs) in contact with the water shall have a corrosion resistance at leastequal to a copper alloy of not less than fifty-eight percent (58%) copper.4.1.4 SpringsSprings in contact with the water shall hav

16、e a corrosion resistance at least equal to stainless steel,Series 300.4.1.5 Elastomeric PartsDiaphragms, valve discs, seating facings or other flexible non-metallic parts shall be designed forcontinuous exposure to water at the maximum rated operating temperature of the device withoutchange in physi

17、cal characteristics which prevent full compliance with all requirements of thisstandard.4.1.6 ConnectionsPipe threads, except dry seal threads, shall comply with ANSI/ASME B1.20.1. Dryseal threadsshall comply with ANSI/ASME B1.20.3. Compression assemblies shall comply with ANSI/SAEJ512. Flare assemb

18、les shall comply with ANSI/ASME B16.264.2 Documentation4.2.1 Installation InstructionsFull instructions for the proper installation of the device shall be packaged with the device.Instructions shall state that the critical level of the device shall be installed at least 150 mm (6inches) above the gr

19、id of a floor drain or the flood rim of the equipment which the trap is to serve.The instructions shall include such data to guide the installer in the selection of the water supplyline in which to locate the device commensurate with the design of the device. Such informationshall include minimum fl
