、achine safety 5.1.1 Tractor-mounted post hole diggers shall conform to requirements of ANSI/ASAE S318 in addition to requirements of this Standard. 5.2 Guarding 5.2.1 The guarding of the components on the post hole digger shall conform to the requirements of ANSI/ASAE S493 and ANSI/ASABE S604 unless

、 otherwise specified in this Standard. 5.2.2 Removable IIC guards shall be attached with fasteners that require a tool to remove. Adjacent implement components may be considered to be part of the guarding system. 5.2.3 The guarding system of the connection between the gearbox output shaft and the au

、ger, including the auger retaining bolt(s), shall encompass 360 degrees around the rotating axis of the connection. Removable, non-rotating guards shall be affixed with fasteners that require a tool to remove. Adjacent implement components may be considered to be part of the guarding system. 5.2.3.1

、 Reasonable access shall be provided for removal/replacement of auger retaining bolt(s) and auger without removal of guarding. Guards which are openable shall remain attached to the machine in some way, for example by means of a tether, hinge, or other suitable means, which shall be attached with fa

、steners that require a tool to remove. A convenient means to keep such guards closed shall be provided. 5.2.4 When the IID or the auger is attached to a round shaft and retained by a torque limiting device, it shall also be retained by a secondary means. 5.3 Safety and instructional signs 5.3.1 The

、safety and instructional signs provided on post hole diggers shall conform to the requirements of ANSI/ASABE AD11684:1995. The appearance of instructional signs shall be different from safety signs. 5.3.2 If safety signs are affixed to removable guards, there shall be a safety sign to indicate a gua

、rd is missing, and instructions provided on the machine to indicate that the machine shall not be operated until the ANSI/ASABE S619 DEC2013 Copyright American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers 5 guard is replaced. The safety sign should be affixed to the surface under or adjacent to

、the guard and be clearly visible when the guard is removed. 5.3.3 Safety signs shall be appropriately displayed when necessary to alert the operator and others of the risk of personal injury during normal operation and servicing. The following list of hazards/ hazard avoidances are suggested but not

、 limited to what could be included on the safety signs. Read and understand operators manual before operating. Do not operate without all shields and guards in place. Operate only from the operators seat of the tractor. Do not operate with anyone near, or in contact with, any part of the implement,

、PTO driveline, or auger. Do not use body weight or any body part to force the auger into the ground or to position auger when auger is turning. Do not replace shear bolt or auger retaining bolt with a bolt that does not meet the manufacturers specifications. Do not operate around underground utility

、 lines without checking with utility authorities. Relieve pressure on hydraulic system before repairing, adjusting, or disconnecting. Wear proper hand and eye protection when searching for hydraulic leaks. Use wood or cardboard instead of hands. 5.4 Manufacturers plates 5.4.1 The post hole digger sh

、ould be provided with identification affixed to the machine that gives model number, serial number, and name and address of the manufacturer or other source for replacement parts and service. Refer to SAE J1360 for a suggested product numbering system. 5.5 Operators manual 5.5.1 The operators manual

、 and other technical publications shall conform to the requirements of ASAE EP363. Provisions shall be provided to maintain the operators manual in such a way that it is readily accessible, readable, and in good condition. The operators manual shall include, but not be limited to, the following safe

、ty messages. Before operating a post hole digger, an operator must read and understand all the information in the operators manual and on the safety signs attached to the post hole digger. A person who has not read or does not understand the operators manual and safety signs is not qualified to oper

、ate the post hole digger. The post hole digger shall not be operated without guards in place. Notification if personal protective equipment is may be required. Auger contact with underground gas lines or electrical cables may result in serious injury or death from explosion or electrical shock. Befo

、re starting to dig, the operator shall call 811 or the local number to have for underground line locations identified. Stored energy devices shall be de-energized and/or blocked before disassembly and/or service. Such devices include, but are not limited to, elevated components and hydraulic cylinders that can be disconnected, disassembled, or freed in such a way as to release energy or material in a hazardous manner. The post hole digger shall be operated onl
