35、ries) Class 2B, in accordance withASME B1.1.Inspection shall be based on System 21 of ASME B1.3.11 MATERIAL AND HARDNESSUnless otherwise specified, nuts shall be manufac-tured from carbon steel in accordance with ASTM F 2282.The nuts shall have a case hardness of HR 15N 78-90on the surface of the nu

For referee purposes, case hardness shallbe measured in the serrations.312 MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS12.1 Proof Load TestNuts shall meet the proof load test using the valuesin Table 3. The proof load test procedure fromASTM F 606 shall be followed.12.2 Break Loose Torqu

37、e TestNuts shall have a break loose torque value equal toor greater than 100% of the seating torque value. Theseating torque value shall be 10% of the values listedin Table 3.(a) Procedure. Place a test bolt through a cold-rolledsteel strip and spacers as required. Assemble a test nutso that at leas

38、t three thread pitches of the bolt extendbeyond the top of the nut. While preventing the steelstrip from rotating, apply the torque value listed inTable 3. That value is the “break loose torque.” Adifferent unused test bolt, test nut, and hole in the teststrip must be used for every test. The test bolt shallbe prevented from turning during testing. 42、llubricant shall not be added.(b) Test Bolt. The test bolt shall be plain finished withthreads conforming to Class 2A tolerances as specifiedin ASME B1.1. The bolt shall have an ultimate tensilestrength not less than the specified proof load of the nutto be tested. Bolt length shall be such that a m

43、inimumlength equivalent to six thread pitches as measured fromthe end of the bolt will protrude through the nut whenthe nut is seated.(c) Test Strip. The steel strip must be a minimum of0.060 in. thick, having a hardness between HRB 60 andHRB 90. The strip must have holes for placing the boltthrough

44、 that are 0.010 in. to 0.025 in. over the boltsnominal thread diameter.(d) Torque Measuring Device. Test results may be mea-sured by an analog or digital device that is capable ofindicating and holding a peak torque value. The analogor electronic measuring system shall have a certifiedaccuracy of 2%

45、 or less.13 FINISHUnless otherwise specified, nuts shall be furnishedwith an electrodeposited zinc-plated finish in accor-dance with ASTM F 1941, Fe/Zn 3A.14 GRADE AND IDENTIFICATION MARKINGUnless otherwise specified by the purchaser, thesenuts shall have no grade marking requirements. Nuts414in. an

46、d above in diameter shall be marked with thesource identification marking.15 INSPECTION AND QUALITY ASSURANCEUnless otherwise specified by the purchaser, inspec-tion of serrated flange locknuts shall be in accordancewith ASME B18.18.2M.16 DESIGNATIONSerrated hex flange locknuts shall be designated b

47、ythe following data, preferably in the sequence as follows:(a) product name and designation of standard(ASME B18.16.4)(b) nominal diameter and thread pitch(c) steel property class or material identification, andprotective coating, if required.EXAMPLE: Regular serrated flange locknut, ASME B18.16.4,1

48、2-13, zinc plated per ASTM F 1941 Fe/Zn 3A.17 OPTIONSOptions, where specified, shall be at the discretionof the manufacturer, unless otherwise agreed betweenmanufacturer and purchaser.18 WORKMANSHIPNuts shall be free of surface irregularities that mightaffect their serviceability, such as burrs, sea

49、ms, laps,loose scale, and other irregularities.
