、Designation: C783 85 (Reapproved 2015) An American National StandardStandard Practice forCore Sampling of Graphite Electrodes1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C783; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision,
、 the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This practice was developed for electric-arc furnacegraphite electrodes, and covers a procedure and equip
、ment forobtaining core samples from electrodes in a manner that doesnot destroy the electrode nor prevent its subsequent use asoriginally intended. However, the minimum electrodediameter, for which extraction of a core sample using thispractice does not influence subsequent use, is influenced by the
、particular application and must be determined by the user.Graphite electrodes for use in electric arc furnaces are usuallysolid cylinders of graphite with threaded sockets machined ineach end.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included
、in thisstandard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use
